  2. Worship The word worship . . . Occurs some 185 times in the Bible. There are three kinds of worship described in the New Testament and I believe is typical of worship all throughout Scripture Ignorant Worship: Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you (Acts 17:22 23 NKJV)

There are three kinds of worship described in the New Testament and I believe is typical of worship all throughout Scripture Vain Worship: He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. (Mark 7:6 9 KJV)

There are three kinds of worship described in the New Testament and I believe is typical of worship all throughout Scripture True Worship: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23 24 KJV) The correct object of worship . . . God Who is Spirit The correct attitude of worship . . . Worship in spirit The foundation for correct worship . . . Truth Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (John 17:17 KJV) Worship is not just a physically action, but rather, is a spiritual act

  5. Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. (Philippians 3:1 3 KJV)

  7. Worship is the acknowledgement, adoration, and homage of who God is and praise is the acknowledgment, adoration and homage of what God is doing, has done, and will do Author unnamed

Worshiping And Praising God Old Testament: Worship {shachah}- to bow down-bow down, prostrate oneself, before a monarch or superior, in homage, etc (BDB) And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. (Genesis 22:5 KJV) And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee. (Isaiah 49:6 7 KJV) Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy. (Psalm 99:5 KJV)

(Renn s Expository Dictionary) Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name. (Psalm 18:49 Cf 2 Sam 22:49 KJV) Zamar- a verb occurring forty-five times with the consistent meaning sing praise(s) to God And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee. (Isaiah 12:4 6 KJV)

Worshiping And Praising God New Testament: Worship {proskuneo} to do reverence or homage by kissing the hand; in NT to do reverence or homage (Louw & Nida) to kiss, like a dog licking his master s hand (Strongs) If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth. (1 Corinthians 14:23 25 KJV) Cf For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. (1 Corinthians 14:14 15 KJV)

Worshiping And Praising God New Testament: Praise painos [ , 1868] epainos is a noun found in eleven contexts, meaning praise in the sense of commendation given and received, as well as adoration offered to God. The sense of commendation, given to human beings by other human beings, is found in Rom. 13:3; 2 Cor. 8:18; Phil. 4:8; 1 Pet. 2:14. 1 Cor. 4:5 mentions praise or commendation given to human beings by God. ainos [ , 136] ainos is a rare noun, found only in Matt. 21:16; Luke 18:43 with reference to praise offered to God. aineo [ , 134] aineo is the verb from which ainos is derived (see above) and is consistently translated to offer praise (to God) in each of the ten occurrences in which it occurs (cf. Luke 2:13, 20; 19:37; 24:53; Acts 2:47; 3:8, 9; Rev. 19:5) ainesis [ , 133] ainesis is a noun derived from aineo (see above), referring to praise offered to God in Heb. 13:5.
