  1. Using Digital Tools in Employment and Guidance Services: Practitioner and Stakeholder Perspectives About CareersPortal.ie Development of MyFuture+ Supporting Remote evidence-based career guidance provision Integrated, mobile compatible Client Career File

About CareersPortal.ie CareersPortal.ie developed as a direct response to report generated by the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs (EGFSN) in 2007, which recommended that Ireland develop a Centralised Careers Guidance Portal. Mobile compatible and free to All. Two bespoke career guidance programmes REACH+ and MyFuture+. CareersPortal Partner with over 200 Public and Private Organisations, to disseminate the most UpToDate and Useful Career & Educational Information across 33Career Sectors linking to the National Occupational Database with over 1,000 occupations, related Skills Shortages, Live Jobs etc. Over 4 Million-Page Impressions a Month and attracts over 2 Million Visitors a Year.

  3. MyFuture+ an Innovative Career Guidance Management System A Collaborative Stakeholder Action Research Approach 1st Pilot Study: September 2015, MyFuture+ Advisory Board was formed. CareersPortal worked with representatives from key stakeholder services including DSP, LES, AEGS and YouthReach to research the needs of needs adult guidance and careers education practice. Included Guidance Professionals and FET Teachers. 1st version launched August 2016. MEd Research: click here CareersPortal/NCGE Pilot: 2017-2018: Application in FET Guidance; AEGS, YouthReach, CTC s and PLC The pilot study was undertaken with FET Guidance Counsellors, Teachers and their clients and learners, with the objective of gathering qualitative feedback. The findings where fed into the development process to enhance and improve the programme. This is reflective of an Action Research Approach (McNiff, 2013) Darbey (2013 p. 2) describe this as a process of collaborative self-evaluation, whereby practitioners reflect on their work and identify areas that need reconsideration and possible improvement in dialogue with others. MyFuture+ A Collaborative Stakeholder Action Research Approach 2018-2020: Continued Consultation, Stakeholder Engagement and CPD provision Examples: Public Employment Services: LES, Jobs Clubs, Partnership Staff Further Education & Training: AEGS, NLN, Adult & Community Education; Disability/Mental Health e.g. COPE Foundation, YouthReach, PLC & CTCs Private Practice/Coaching/Psychological Support: Rugby Players Ireland, Sport Ireland, Private Practitioners March 2020: Covid-19 and Emerging Remote/Integrated Guidance and Careers Education Needs m Client/Jobseeker/Learner Messaging Feature Careers Sectors Assessment & Matching, Multiple Intelligences Strengths Based Approach; confidence, skills awareness etc. Client Notes/Records Evidence Based Remote Practice

Leave No One Behind Digitalisation in PES MyFuture+ Supports development of Digital Literacy Accessibility Mobile Compatible Labour Market Activation Council: create new channels to deliver activation and job-search supports . Strengths Based Holistic Approach to Self-Assessment (Non-Psychometric) Skills, Multiple Intelligence, Interests etc. Self-Directed and/or collaboratively with Guidance Support Client/Jobseeker Career File can migrate between PES service supporting an Eco-System Approach to PES Challenges/Barriers to Digitalisation/Integrated Guidance Approaches: On-line careers information, tools and websites can be viewed by Guidance workers as reductionist designed to complement guidance not replace! Lack of digital literacy, access (internet) and confidence (jobseeker/guidance worker) Need to develop a version equivalent QQI Levels 1-3, including accessibility features for marginalised groups - this has been scoped and pilot project will begin in the next 12-18 months.
