  1. TIME AT THE ALTAR LIFEGATE 7/6/25

  2. KEY POINTS: You are part of a royal priesthood You are still called to serve at the altar of the Lord

  3. WE ARE CALLED PRIESTS. ADOPTED INTO THE PRIESTLY ROYAL FAMILY OF GOD Exodus 19:6 6and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel. Isaiah 61:6 but you shall be called the priests of the LORD; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast. 1 Peter 2:5 5you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

  4. OUR IDENTITY AS PRIESTS IN THE KINGDOM 1Peter 2:9 9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Revelation 1:6 To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Revelations 5:9-10 9And they sang a new song, saying, Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, 10and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.

  5. OUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19-20 19OR DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU, WHOM YOU HAVE FROM GOD? YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN, 20FOR YOU WERE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE. SO GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY.

  6. WHAT IS AN ALTAR? An altar is a place of sacrifice. It is a place where things die. 1 Kings 8:5 [NLT] 5There, before the Ark, King Solomon and the entire community of Israel sacrificed so many sheep, goats, and cattle that no one could keep count! Sin separates us from God. But God loves us so much that he sent his son Jesus to die for us. John 3:16 [NIV] 16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life Romans 5:8 [NIV] 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

  7. TODAY What is a altar? The personal altar of prayer is located in our prayer closet. It is the secret place that you go to, to connect with the Father. It is the place where you go to pour out your heart and shed your tears before the Lord.

  8. Matthew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you Time spent at the altar, in the presence of the Lord will change you. It will grow your relationship with the Lord and the power and authority that you are able to walk in .

  9. OUR OFFERING Romans 12:1 12I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Hebrews 13:15 15Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name

  10. 3 PRACTICAL LESSONS FROM THE SACRIFICES MADE BY THE LEVITICAL PRIESTS: Notice what happened at the Altar: There was a part Removed (Leviticus 4:11-12) There was a part Given to feed others (Leviticus 6:25-27) AND there was a part Consumed (Leviticus 4:8-10)

  11. A PART REMOVED Under instructions for priests making offerings for sin: Leviticus 4:11-12 11But the hide of the bull and all its flesh with its head and its legs and its entrails and its refuse, 12that is, all the rest of the bull, he shall bring out to a clean place outside the camp where the ashes are poured out, and he shall burn it on wood with fire; where the ashes are poured out it shall be burned.

  12. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. (Galatians 5:24 NLT)

  13. A PART REMOVED Ekkathairo [#1571. Strongs Greek] to cleanse thoroughly purge, clean, purge out, cleanse out 2 Timothy 2:21 [LSB] 21Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, having been prepared for every good work. 1 Corinthians 5:7 [LSB] 7Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, also was sacrificed. [NKJV] Therefore purge out the old leaven

  14. A PART REMOVED John 15:1-8 I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine-grower. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He cleans it so that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit from itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.

  15. There is a part removed as we make our sacrifice at the altar Unwillingness to do so stunts our relationship with God

  16. There is a part of our sacrifice that is to be given to others.

  17. A PART GIVEN Leviticus 6:25-27 25 Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the sin offering. In the place where the burnt offering is killed shall the sin offering be killed before the LORD; it is most holy. 26The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. In a holy place it shall be eaten, in the court of the tent of meeting.

  18. A PART GIVEN Each day we are to take up our cross. We give of ourselves to serve others as we place our lives on the altar. Ministering to others is part of our sacrifice. Just as Jesus offered up is life and served others, we as his followers willingly do the same. This is an act of submission, as we allow God to use us on His terms. By this we make ourselves food for others, as Jesus made Himself food for us (He is the bread of Life). John 6:35 35Then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

  19. AT THE ALTAR There are things in our lives that need to be REMOVED There are things in our lives that need to be GIVEN And There that God would reserve just for Himself

  20. THE PART CONSUMED Leviticus 4:8-10 [ESV] 8And all the fat of the bull of the sin offering he shall remove from it, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails 9and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them at the loins and the long lobe of the liver that he shall remove with the kidneys 10(just as these are taken from the ox of the sacrifice of the peace offerings); and the priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering.

  21. DAVID DESCRIBES THE WAY INTO THE SECRET PLACE: Psalms 139:23-24 [NLT] 23Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. [ESV] Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting v.24 [LSB] And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.
