  2. To become a disciple Jesus has to get into your head head.

  3. 13When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, Who do people say the Son of Man is? 14They replied, Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets. 15 But what about you? he asked. Who do you say I am? - - Matthew Matthew 16:13 16:13- -15 15

  4. 16Simon Peter answered, You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. 17Jesus replied, Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. - - Matthew Matthew 16:16 16:16- -18 18

  5. 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 20Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah. - - Matthew Matthew 16:19 16:19- -20 20

  6. To become a disciple Jesus must also get into your heart heart.

  7. 21 21From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. 22 22Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. Never, Lord! he said. This shall never happen to you! - - Matthew Matthew 16:21 16:21- -22 22

  8. 23 23Jesus turned and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns. - - Matthew Matthew 16:23 16:23

  9. 24 24Then Jesus said to his disciples, Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. - - Matthew Matthew 16:24 16:24

  13. 9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. - - I I Peter Peter 2:9 2:9- -10 10

  14. 11Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.12Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. - - I I Peter Peter 2:11 2:11- -12 12

  15. 15 15Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16 that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 16For all - - I John 2:15 I John 2:15- -16 16

  16. 25For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds. - - Matthew Matthew 16:25 16:25- -27 27
