Offerings / Sacrifices: background Abraham was called to go to Caanan, to be blessed so that the world would be blessed. With Joseph, the family ended up in Egypt. After Joseph they became slaves. With Moses God freed Israel. Life in stead of death, freedom over slavery is at the basis!
Offerings / Sacrifices A new society formed, based on a covenant The law details this covenant, and is meant to keep the relationship God-People intact. Part of this law is about how offerings / sacrifices play a role.
Bible content The 39 books of the Old Testament contain the story of creation, the history of the people of Israel, and how God used them in His plan to redeem the human race. The 27 books of the New Testament contain the life of Jesus and the story of the early church and teaching what God did to save us, how to become a Christian and how to live as God s people. Now we distribute Bibles
Leviticus 1-7: 5 types of offering. 1. Burnt offering: completely burnt, as a token of full dedication to God. That is the standard. And that is unto a sweet smell for God 2. Meat -offering: Flour (suffering), oil (Holy Spirit) and frankincense sweet-smell What present would you give to God?
