  1. LIFE GROUP SERIES

  2. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story those he redeemed from the hand of the foe. Psalm 107:1 2

  3. No amount of bitterness can keep God from showing mercy and grace.

  4. Beauty and the Beast

  5. 1. Why do acts of kindness often bring a change in someones demeanor? 2. Does kindness always change someone s demeanor? If not, what makes the difference? 3. Why is hope during difficult times essential for a person s emotional health?

  6. 1. Which outlook do you think is more popular in America today? 2. Why would someone want to live without hope as Ingersoll suggests? 3. What role does hope have in the Christian faith?

  7. Gods Tenderness with Our Bitterness Ruth 2:17 23 I. We want to walk by sight (17 19) II. God helps us walk by faith (20 23)

  8. Application 1: Ruth not only gathers grain for Naomi, she also shares with Naomi the meal Boaz had provided her (Ruth 2:18). In what ways have you been generous with others during the past week? What is the link between generosity and the gospel?

  9. Application 2: Ruth is unaware of Boaz s significance when she begins to gather grain in the morning. When was a time that you experienced God s providence at work in your life in ways you would not have recognized at the moment?

  10. Application 3: Naomi recognizes Boaz s kindness and blesses him for it. How has someone else s kindness impacted your life? What does it require of a person to be kind?

  11. Application 4: In addition to providing food for Ruth, Boaz takes extra steps to ensure her continued safety. When helping others, it is often easy for us to focus on one or two things but stop short of providing the help the person needs the most. Why is it important to offer those in need our full support? How does God fully meet our needs in the gospel?

  12. Application 5: Pride often keeps us from accepting the generosity of others. Ruth would not allow pride to keep Boaz from helping her. Are there situations in your life in which you need to get over pride and receive help?
