  3. DEFINE In society 10 years ago, we maintained a worldwide herd of 60 billion animals to provide our dairy, eggs, meat and leather goods. As the world s population will continue to grow, By 2050 when the world population is 10 billion people, the number of 60 million animals will have to take a drastic jump to 100 billion animals. If this rate of consumption continues, managing the large herd will have dreadful impacts on earth. Animals are quite often looked at as being raw, unused materials, what we often forget is that they are living beings like humans. Our livestock is already the majority users of fresh water and land. It is also one of the biggest manufacturers of greenhouse gases which is the main contributor to climate change. Apart from this, when multiple animals gather so close together, it will create a breeding ground for diseases, and the great chance of harm and abuse. It is becoming obvious we cannot keep blindly walking the path that puts the public, food security, and the environment at risk.

  4. .Questions that we as a group thought of was DISCOVER What will happen to the earth if we stop killing animals for meat and leather? Scientists predicted that by 2050,it will take 100 billion land animals to provide the world's population with eggs , meat , leather goods ,and dairy .maintaining tis herd will take a huge , potentially unsustainable toll on the planet. Benefits of Bio fabricated leather? The advantages of bio fabricated leather is we are not longer limited to the skin size of the animals, But produce sheets in just the format you want. We can also give it the qualities we want , thick, strong , flexible, or soft . But the bio fabrication leather could be expensive than the traditional leather. What is the science ? Andreas Forgacs invented bio manufacturing the idea of growing leather by modifying the DNA of yeast to produce collagen and then using a fermentation process to grow the collagen protein and then using material science to assemble the collagen protein into a material , And this process known as Bio fabrication. Bio fabrication techniques have been used to grow sophisticated bodyparts, like ears, windpipes, skin, blood vessels and bone, that have been successfully implanted into patients. Steps to make this process work? At first it begin by taking cells from an animal by simple biopsy .the animals can be cow, lamb whatever it doesn t have no harm ,then we will isolate cells to multiply them in a cell culture medium , it take millions cells and expand them into billions. Next we will do is take cells and their collagens and we spread out form sheets

  5. Dream Possible solutions we have thought of for leather and meat without killing animals is People eating less meat until the technology to make meat without killing animals is accessible for everyone, everywhere

  6. Debrief Learning about ways to replace animal farmed products like leather and meat was enjoyable because it was a topic we were not familiar with and learning about new things is always fun. The process to find all the information was challenging but we learnt strategies on how to be better in the future. Overall, this was a fun assignment and I hope to do something similar in the future. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-NC
