Consecrate yourselves, you and your brothers, so that you may bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it. (15:12) And the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the LORD. 15. Authority and the Ark

  16. Authority and the Ark Learning to Establish Authority It is not by the appearance of good Using the failure of another as inspiration can lead to haughtiness Large numbers do not indicate rightness Authority must always flow directly from God (15:13) If specific, it is done exactly as He states If judgment is needed, it is determined by His standards/principles

  17. Authority and the Ark Reconciling a Bursting Forth God and God of Mercy Easy to view God s action against Uzzah as an overreaction Important, though, to understand it was an act of defiance David admitted they did not do what was written It was a lack of respect for God s glory ( heaviness ) Note the change in tone in David s psalm

  18. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! (10) Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! (24) Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! (28) Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness (29) Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather and deliver us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. (35)

  19. Mercy is Present for Those Who Seek Him
