PROPOSED STEM MAGNET PROGRAM SCIENCE KN/1ST- Botany: study of plant growth and development 2ND- Botany: Greenhouse project 3RD- Earth Science: Astronomy 4TH- Earth Science: Geology 5th Environmental Science: Go green project ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE SCIENCE LAB TECHNOLOGY KN/1st-Keyboard Instruction 2nd- Book Publishing 3rd Digital Photography- 4th- Video Production and Power point Presentation- 5th- Webpage Design/ Blog ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE TECHNOLOGY LAB
PROPOSED STEM MAGNET PROGRAM ENGINEERING KN/1st- Introduction to design and engineer promoting teamwork and critical thinking skills 2nd- Engineering projects/ Programming Lego educational robots 3rd- - Engineering projects/ Programming Lego educational robots 4th- Oil and Gas Themed Robotics and Engineering 5th- Robotic Competition based Curriculum ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE ROBOTIC LAB MATH KN/1ST- Math Club/ Problem Solving 2ND- Banking / School Store/ Math Club 3rd- Banking / School Store/ Math Club 4th- Math Competitions/ Conducting Surveys and analyzing Data 5TH- Math Competitions/ Finance Reports ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE MATH LAB
SMaRT SMaRT ACADEMY MAGNET PROGRAM ACADEMY MAGNET PROGRAM 2013 2013- -2014 2014 The School Expectations: Provide a safe environment for all students participants Provide an environment conducive to learning Provide interesting activities that meet state and district standards Attend all scheduled magnet meetings and teacher conferences Volunteer for at least one school activity (Have clearance from HISD security) Have students at school daily for Magnet classes from 7:30- 3:00 Provide transportation or pick up promptly at 3:00pm daily (or 5:00 pm for students in the after- school academic enrichment program )
SMaRT SMaRT ACADEMY MAGNET PROGRAM ACADEMY MAGNET PROGRAM 2013 2013- -2014 2014 The Student Expectations: Maintain an overall E or S in conduct each nine week grading period Complete all assigned homework, class work and /or projects Follow school rules Be courteous to teachers, peers and all other staff Work well and participate in class activities Use time, materials and equipment effectively Follow school dress code which includes the blue lab coat for grades 3rd 5th Meet all promotion standards set forth by HISD
