  4. Individual Study Plan Studies of a third level study program are performed in accordance with an Individual Study Plan (ISP) under the guidance of a supervisor. The ISP for a third level study program is compiled by a supervisor so that its completion assures for the doctoral student the meeting of conditions for the proper completion of the study within the standard length of study corresponding to his/her study program. Compiled ISP is submitted to the Doctoral Board for approval. After the ISP has been approved, it is necessary to deliver the ISP signed by the supervisor and by the Doctoral Board Chairman to Bc. Danka Kurucov by September 30, 2022. The title of dissertation thesis is listed in the ISP. The title of dissertation thesis can be modified during the course of study only with the approval of the Doctoral Board.

  5. Recommended Study Plan Full-time study The standard length of study: 3 academic years For each year of study, a student receives a standard 60 credits. Permitted length of study = standard length of study + 2 years External study The standard length of study: 4 academic years For each year of study, a student receives a standard 45 credits. Permitted length of study = standard length of study + 3 years The number of credits required for proper completion of studies in both forms is at least 180.   6. Recommended Study Plan Studies of third degree study programs consist of study and scientific parts. The study part (40 credits) focuses on acquiring deep theoretical knowledge of the field and mastering the methodological apparatus. It consists of the following courses: English for Special Purposes Theory in the Field Subject of specialization I Subject of specialization II The study part of a third degree study program consists especially of lectures, seminars and individual study of professional literature necessary because of dissertation thesis specialization. In addition, the student can choose any subject from other study programs as an optional subject.

  7. Recommended Study Plan The scientific part (140 credits) - the basic form of the educational activity is individual or team scientific work focused on the subject of the dissertation thesis. It consists of the following courses: Dissertation project I IV for the full-time form of study; Dissertation project IE VIE for the external form of study, Scientific work I IV for the full-time form of study; Scientific work IE VE for the external form of study. Dissertation examination, Dissertation thesis defense. Completion of a course is assessed as follows : passed", if the conditions for passing the course were met, failed", if the conditions for passing the course were not met.

Recommended Study Plan Planned learning activities, teaching methods and assessment methods and criteria are listed in Information sheets of subjects https://is.stuba.sk/auth/katalog/?_m=111;lang=en Third degree study programs in the full-time form of study also contain teaching activities or activities related to the teaching of not more than four hours a week on average for the academic year (Section 54 par. 11 of the Act No. 131 /2002 Coll.) If the doctoral student is registered for a dissertation thesis offered by an external educational institution (EEI), he/she performs the scientific part of the study and the obligations of the study part agreed with the faculty in the external educational institution. Details on the study organization are specified in an individual agreement concluded by the faculty with EEI for each doctoral student.

  9. Recommended Study Plan In terms of the internal quality system of doctoral studies, it is necessary for the doctoral student to participate in international activities during his studies in one of the following forms: demonstrable active involvement in solving an international scientific and research project, active participation in at least two important international events (conferences) an internship at foreign academic or researchworkplaces lasting for at least 4 weeks. The Doctoral Program at FEI STU is intended to support the improvement of the quality and efficiency of the scientific research activity of doctoral students and to support their involvement in international activities in the form of research mobility and internships at a foreign academic or research workplace.

  10. Dissertation Examination (Articles 36-38 of Study Regulations of the Slovak University of Technology) Dissertation examination is a state examination. Dissertation examinations can be carried out after doctoral student obtain at least 40 credits, by half of the standard length of study program. In justified cases, the dean can approve a later term, based on the recommendation of the Doctoral Board. The thesis required for the dissertation examination consists of a dissertation project, typically containing the current state of knowledge related to the subject, outline of the theoretical foundations and methodology of solving the problem. Doctoral student present the thesis for dissertation examinations in the official language. On the request of a doctoral student, the thesis for dissertation examination may be presented in other than the official language. The request shall be commented by the chairman of the Doctoral Board and approved by the dean. The thesis for dissertation examinations is assessed by one reviewer. The result of the dissertation examination is assessed by the examination board by the formulation Passed or Failed .

  11. Dissertation Thesis Defense (Articles 39-43 of Study Regulations of the Slovak University of Technology) Dissertation thesis is a final thesis and its defense is a state examination. Doctoral student can submit a written request to the dean for permission to defend his/her dissertation if he has no more than 30 credits left before the end of his/her studies. Request for dissertation thesis defense shall be submitted by the doctoral student at least three months before the end of the permitted length of their study programs. Dissertation thesis includes an analysis of the current state of knowledge in the given field, characteristics of objectives, a detailed description of procedures used (methods of work, material), obtained results, their assessment, a discussion, conclusions and a list of literature used. With the consent of the dean, the doctoral student may submit a dissertation thesis in a language other than the official language; the request shall be commented by the Doctoral Board chairman.

  12. Dissertation Thesis Defense Doctoral student prepares dissertation thesis abstract, i.e. brief summary of his/her main results, definition of his/her contribution and data on the public acceptance. The abstract is prepared in the same language as the dissertation thesis. Dissertation theses are assessed by at least two reviewers. The result of the dissertation thesis defense is assessed by the examination board by the formulation Passed or Failed . The "Failed" result of the defense shall be delivered to the doctoral student in writing "Protocol on State Examination Results - Dissertation Thesis Defense", where the degree of the dissertation thesis revision and the time in which the doctoral student can re-submit the request for the defense of the dissertation thesis (repeated defense of dissertation thesis), shall be stated. Doctoral student may repeat his/her dissertation thesis defense of only once.

  13. Conditions for Study Continuation Study control is carried out on the basis of the updated study plan. At the end of each academic year, the supervisor presents the updated study plan of the doctoral student to the chairman of the Doctoral Board by giving his/her opinion whether he/she recommends the continuation of the doctoral student in the studies or not. The doctoral student meets the conditions for continuing in the studies if: he/she has the minimum number of credits (at least 30 credits in the full- time form of study or 24 credits in the external form of study) in the next period, he/she doesn't exceed the permitted length of study. Checking the conditions for continuing studies shall be performed at the end of the academic year. Failure to meet these conditions is a reason for the supervisor not to recommend the further continuation of the study.

  14. Conditions for Proper Completion of Studies Successful completion of compulsory and semi-compulsory courses of the study program in accordance with the rules and conditions for creating study plans. Carrying out teaching activities or other activities related to the teaching during the entire doctoral studies, the standard scope is 4 hours per week on average (applies only to the full-time form of study). Fulfillment of the minimum criteria for outputs required for successful completion of studies, which are listed in STU's Internal Regulation No. 9/2021 Internal Quality Assurance System for Doctoral Studies at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.. Conducting the state exams (in accordance with the Study regulations), which are the dissertation examination and the dissertation thesis defense.

  15. Rights and Obligations of Doctoral Students During his/her studies of study programs, doctoral student has the status of a student and the organization of the academic year according to Art. 8 of the Study Regulations applies to him/her, except for regulations governing the examination period. Doctoral student can be involved in team research activities incorporated in national and international projects solved at the doctoral student training workplace, if approved by his/her supervisor. The presence of the doctoral student in the full-time form of study at his/her training workplace is determined in his/her individual study plan, while it cannot be determined for more than 37.5 hours in a week. Any absence of the doctoral student in the full-time form of study at the training workplace due to illness shall be justified by a medical certificate issued by the attending physician, or a certificate of incapacity for work. During the period of excused absence from the training workplace due to illness, the doctoral scholarship shall be paid in full amount.

  16. Rights and Obligations of Doctoral Students Any absence of the doctoral student in the full-time form of study at the training workplace without the prior written consent of his/her supervisor and head of the training workplace or without a justifiable reason proven by documents (illness, etc.), will be considered a disciplinary offense. A disciplinary offense of the doctoral student is grounds for expulsion from the study. The doctoral student in the full-time form of study is entitled to study leave. The extent of study leaves in a given academic year is equal to the number of days specified as vacation in the schedule of the STU academic year. In academic year 2022/2023 the number of vacation days is 46. Spending the study leave at the request of the doctoral student in the full- time form of study with the prior consent of his/her supervisor shall be allowed or ordered by the head of the training workplace or the dean. Unspent study leave cannot be carried over to the next academic year. Rector's or dean's leave also applies to doctoral students unless otherwise stated.

  17. Interruption of Study Student may apply for the interruption of his/her study program. The study may be interrupted usually for a whole period of study (semester, academic year). Study interruption is approved by the dean of the faculty it is necessary to submit a written request signed by hand. The longest total period of one study interruption is two years, if the reason for the study interruption is parental leave then the longest total period of one study interruption is three years. Students may have their studies interrupted not more than twice during the study, while the total second study interruption period may last not more than one year, unless the reason for the interruption of the study is parental leave. The study interruption period is not included in the permitted lenght of study. Student cannot request an interruption of study, if the conditions for exclusion from the study have been met for failure to meet the requirements.

  18. Doctoral Student Scholarship The faculty or external educational institution provides doctoral student in the full-time form of study with scholarships. During the standard length of the study program, a doctoral student in the full-time form of study is entitled to a scholarship, if he has not already obtained a third-level university education: till passing his/her dissertation examination at least in the amount of salary class 6 and salary grade 1 under a particular regulation* (832,00 ) after passing his/her dissertation examination, at least in the amount of salary class 7 and salary grade 1 under a particular regulation* (969,00 ). * Act No. 553/2003 Coll. on Remuneration of Certain Employees for Work Performed in the Public Interest including amendments to certain acts as amended

  19. Incentive Scholarships The awarding of incentive scholarships is regulated by the Scholarship Regulations of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava as amended https://www.stuba.sk/buxus/docs/stu/pracoviska/rektorat/odd_vzdelavania/le gislativa/predpisy_2022/EN_Stip._poriadok_uplne_znenie__D1_D5_2022.pdf Incentive scholarship for excellent study results shall be awarded to no more than ten per cent of students of the faculty, the amount of the scholarship is differentiated depending on the results achieved. is awarded to students for excellent performance of study duties reached in the given degree of study in the previous academic year, if the students did not interrupt their study in that year for a period longer than 30 calendar days. students may be awarded an incentive scholarship for excellent academic results if, in the academic year under review, the student did not exceed the standard length of study of the study program and successfully completed all courses listed in the study plan.

  20. Incentive Scholarships Incentive Specialization Scholarships support for the fields of study preferred by the labor market shall be awarded to no more than fifty per cent of students of the determined study field at the faculty, the amount of the scholarship is differentiated depending on the results achieved. students in the first year of study may be awarded incentive specialization scholarship taking into account their study results in their previous studies (weighed average of academic performance for all previous studies) students in the following years of studies may be awarded incentive specialization scholarship taking into account their study results from the previous academic year of study, if in the previous academic year the student did not exceed the standard length of study of the study program and did not have his studies interrupted for a period longer than 30 calendar days.

  21. Tuition Fee and Study-Related Fees Tuition and fees related to study are determined by the rector's directive valid for the relevant academic year https://www.stuba.sk/buxus/docs/stu/pracoviska/rektorat/odd_vzdelavania/ student/legislativa/smernice/2022_2023/EN_Smernica_skolne_a_poplatky_ 2022_2023.pdf The obligation to pay tuition in the full-time form of studies arises if a student studies simultaneously in one academic year two or more study programmes provided by a public university or state university with a seat in the territory of the Slovak Republic, a student studies study programme provided by the faculty longer than its standard length of studies, the study programme (as a whole) is performed exclusively in a foreign language.

  22. Tuition Fee and Study-Related Fees A student in the external form of studies shall be obliged to pay the annual tuition in each year of studies. The tuition fee is determined: during the standard length of studies of the study programme - by a directive for the academic year in which his or her studies started, after exceeding the standard length of studies - by a directive for the relevant academic year. The student shall be obliged to pay tuition no later than within 10 working days from the day of the delivery of the decision on the obligation to pay the tuition. The rector shall not allow postponement of the due date of payable tuition. STU shall claim unsettled debts in court.

  23. Tuition Fee and Study-Related Fees In justified cases, the student can submit a written Tuition Adjustment Application to the rector for a reduction or remission of tuition fees; submitting the Application does not have a suspensive effect on the legality and enforceability of the decision on the obligation to pay the tuition. Possibilities of reducing or waiving school fees are regulated by rector's directive valid for the relevant academic year. The student fills out the application via AIS, prints it, signs it and delivers it, or sends it by post to the address of the study department, no later than 10 working days from the date of delivery of the decision on the obligation to pay tuition fees. Applications delivered after the deadline for its submission will not be considered. Rector shall not approve a reduction or remission of tuition in case of an obligation to pay tuition due to parallel studies, studies in the full-time form in a foreign language and external studies.
