  1. GP Leadership Fellowship 6 month review Dr Rebecca Kenyon

  2. My Aims and Objectives from the Fellowship To find out more about the wider NHS organisations making decisions about healthcare delivery in Lincolnshire To gain theoretical knowledge and skills to develop my own style of leadership To be able to put those skills into practice through undertaking a project To design a project with the aim of improving Primary Care Workforce Retention in Lincolnshire To leave a legacy that will also facilitate improvements in patient care

  3. Theoretical Knowledge: Edward Jenner Course The Kings Fund and NHS Leadership Academy articles, podcasts and videos Lincolnshire Training Hub webinars for GP Fellows What I have done so far Learning about organisations in the wider NHS: Attended 3 LMC meetings, now a committee member of the LMC Attended a one to one meeting with the Chief Operating Officer of the LMC Attended a one to one meeting with our PCN Clinical Director Attended a PCN Alliance Meeting Attended Primary Care Peoples Group Meeting

  4. What I have done so far My Project I have designed a project to create an online web based list of contact details for Secondary Care departments in Lincolnshire Hospitals to be used by Primary Care clinicians to speak to a specialist for urgent same day advice on a patient or to discuss a potential admission. I feel this is an important piece of work as it will lead to more time saved in the working day and better clinician wellbeing. It will also help to develop more personal links between Primary and Secondary Care clinicians and will also improve patient care through more expedient management discussions.

  5. Current Progress with my project 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Created a project plan Initial meeting with the ICB Comms team supported the idea Contributed to meetings about the development of Sharepoint the new primary care intranet platform to host the information I collate Met contacts from the ICB Digital Team meet monthly for support/advice Drafted emails to secondary care consultants Requested support from the LMC Medical Director Met with the Head of PCN Transformation taken my project to the Interface operational meeting Sent out initial questionnaire to assess current situation regarding secondary care communication

  6. What I have learnt so far I am developing my skills in communicating with key stakeholders and gaining interest and support for my project idea. I am working on feeling empowered to speak out in meetings where I do not know anyone and express my opinion when it is relevant How to design and carry out a project Waiting for responses to emails is sometimes a barrier to rapid progress My IT skills have progressed I now know how to set up teams meetings and create a questionnaire and send it out to others on Microsoft forms

  7. Challenges so far and feedback for the Fellowship Team Initially I felt like I didn t know quite where to start with my project or who to work with. I think it would be useful for the training hub to have a resource for future fellows with some brief information about the different departments at the ICB e.g. the digital team, the comms team, the interface team so they know which department may be a good point of contact I am happy to help develop something if it is considered beneficial

  8. What next? In the next 6 months I aim to: Complete the Edward Jenner Course assignment Finish collating all the data for my contact list project and have it published on the sharepoint intranet site Attend the Primary Care Regional GP Retention Day on 28/11 Complete the CMI Level 7 Senior General Practice Leadership Development Programme in March 2024 Continue to develop my leadership thought processes and apply these to primary/secondary care interface projects e.g. PLT
