DSO STA Group Address Frame Delivery Proposal Analysis
"Explore the issues concerning group address frame delivery for DSO STAs in IEEE 802.11 networks, proposing solutions to ensure frame reception and avoiding missed transmissions on specific sub-bands. The document presents recommendations for handling group-addressed data and management frames, emphasizing the importance of timing coordination between APs and STAs to optimize frame delivery efficiency."

Nov. 2024 Doc.: IEEE 802.11-25/0737r0 Introduction In this contribution, we would like to discuss the group address data/mgmt. frame delivery for DSO STA. Submission Slide 2
Nov. 2024 Doc.: IEEE 802.11-25/0737r0 The problem statement for group addressed frame delivery and reception. DSO STAs operating on DSO sub-band may miss the Beacon frame transmitted on BSS primary channel(P20) at TBTT. --Except the case the Beacon transmitted in non-HT duplicate PPDU on 6GHz. DSO STAs operating on DSO sub-band may miss the group addressed data and mgmt. frame transmitted on P20 after DTIM Beacon frame. If the DSO AP obtains the group address data frame from DS, how to make the decision, deliver or buffer them? Submission Slide 3
Nov. 2024 The Proposal of group addressed mgmt. frame and data frame delivery Group addressed data and mgmt. frame are not allowed to be delivered on DSO subband. Doc.: IEEE 802.11-25/0737r0 The group addressed frame(s) that are expected to be received by the DSO STA shall be buffered and delivered after the DTIM Beacon According to the baseline, EMLMR,EMLSR,PS STA device are expected to receive the group addressed frames after DTIM Beacon on primary channel. To compatible with pre-UHR STA and make the implementation simpler. The DSO AP shall ensure the DSO STAs switching back to P20 before each TBTT. The DSO AP as a TXOP holder shall ensure TXOP ends before each TBTT. The DSO STA switching back delay shall be taken into account. Slide 4 Submission
Nov. 2024 Doc.: IEEE 802.11-25/0737r0 Summary Analyze the Beacon and group address frames missing issue for DSO STAs. Propose the group addressed frame(s) are not allowed to be delivered on DSO subband DSO AP as a TXOP holder shall end the TXOP before each TBTT. DSO STAs that are expected to receive the group addressed frame after DTIM Beacon on the BSS primary channel. Submission Slide 5

Nov. 2024 Doc.: IEEE 802.11-25/0737r0 SP1(a) Do you agree the DSO AP as TXOP holder shall end the TXOP before each TBTT? Switch back delay of the DSO STA should be taken into account SP1(b) Do you agree the DSO STA shall switch back to its BSS primary channel before each TBTT? - Switch back delay of the DSO STA should be taken into account Submission Slide 8
Nov. 2024 Doc.: IEEE 802.11-25/0737r0 SP2 Do you agree the DSO AP shall not transmit group addressed frame on DSO subband? Note- the group addressed frame will be buffered and delivered immediately following the next DTIM Beacon on the BSS primary channel, unless explicitly specified otherwise. Submission Slide 9
