Dual Credit Rescue To address low graduation rates at target schools in the Hamilton region To address low post-secondary education participation rates in some secondary schools within the region. Not all schools have students participate due to regional transportation challenges Why? Not all students are ready for a 2 credit on campus experience for a variety of reasons

  6. The program is open to students from multiple schools, but typically because of how it is scheduled the program is populated by students from the same secondary school, who are from the primary target group of students. Dual Credit Rescue The DCT is either an existing day school DCT or typically a student success teacher or guidance counsellor from the school where the lions share of the students are coming from. Students in need of 1-3 credits to graduate with particular emphasis on students in need of 1 credit. Who? COVID 19 strategy

  7. Dual Credit Rescue Dual Credit Rescue is a single credit course that runs at the secondary school taught by the college instructor. It is a single credit general education credit that would be transferrable across a variety of college programs. What? College 101-Introduction to College Experience College 101 Indigenous Introduction to Psychology

  9. Dual Credit Rescue At the secondary school, additional class is added to the school day for the students. We worked with the ICT department to change the schedule for the students. The DCT is identified and paid through an after- school service contract. Therefore this assignment is an additional course to the teacher much like what happens when a teacher teaches night school. How?

  10. Dual Credit Rescue We created a 5thor 6thperiod of the day in the students timetable. Keeping students in school rather than giving them an extended break into the evening could increase the likelihood that students would not attend. When? We also strategically scheduled the course to begin after March break and it runs 2 days a week 4 hours per week for 11 weeks.

  11. Dual Credit Rescue We selected schools with a large population of students who were not on track to graduate with their peer group cohort. Where? COVID 19 Online Delivery
