School School- -College College- -Work Initiative Work Initiative Since its inception in 1997, the SCWI has contributed to the goal of increasing the number of students who graduate from secondary school and providing a seamless transition from secondary school to postsecondary education by supporting collaborative activities and programs. 2022-25 RFP Memo 3 SCWI / IJECT

Target Group Participation by Dual Credit Target Group Participation by Dual Credit Program Focus Program Focus In the 2020-21 school year, students were enrolled in17,854 dual credits o 87% were in the primary target group of students being disengaged and facing challenges in completing their graduation requirements; o 21% were SHSM students; o 8% were OYAP students; and o 5% were adults, ages 21 and over 6 SCWI / IJECT

Dual Credit Students and Their Transition to College, 2021 Key Findings Findings observed in the 2020 report continue to remain true: Dual credit students continue to receive offers (93%) at a rate comparable to, or even better than all applicants (86%) Dual credit students using vouchers continue to enrol at a lower rate (70%) than other dual credit students , or all applicants (62%). Dual credit students using vouchers are less likely to be retained (30%) than other dual credit students (44%) or than all college students (51%) 10 SCWI / IJECT
Key Findings Dual credit students typically apply within a year of receiving their OSSD. This differs from the system-wide cohort, where only 41% of applicants applied in the same year they received their OSSD. 11 SCWI / IJECT
Key Findings Dual credit students are persistent, which may be a complete departure from their secondary school experience: 70% of Dual Credit students who have enrolled in a preparatory program have subsequently enrolled in a regular program. 12 SCWI / IJECT
dual credit students continue to apply and receive offers to colleges at comparable rates as non-dual credit applicants across the system. This is cause for celebration! Many people have come together to provide support to these students, and the effort is delivering long-term impacts on student success. New Activity: New Activity: OYAP Level 1 Transitions Support Pilots OYAP Level 1 Transitions Support Pilots The purpose of these pilots is to support students to continue on their chosen path both while they are in and after their Level 1 Apprenticeship Dual Credit Transitions Support Pilots for Level 1 dual credit students will be in addition to what is currently in place in boards and colleges. 14 SCWI / IJECT
New Activity: New Activity: OYAP Level 1 Transitions Support Pilots OYAP Level 1 Transitions Support Pilots Students in any Level 1 Apprenticeship Dual Credit program (regardless of the delivery approach) who will be transitioning from secondary school to their first postsecondary destination are eligible. These pilots will build on the success of the Wrap Around SWAC and Wrap Around ADC pilots. 15 SCWI / IJECT

eLearning for Adult Students eLearning for Adult Students SCWI 2022 SCWI 2022- -25 Requirements 25 Requirements For Adult Dual Credit Programs (students 21 years and over): RPTs will work with board Adult and Continuing Education staff to develop proposals that will meet the needs of their students. Programs are to be on a college campus or community facility and delivered face-to-face or online. What we heard What we heard There was a distinct sense of hopelessness for some students. Many felt that the traditional rites of passage were denied to them (no graduation, no prom, and the college experience). RPT 13, Georgian many students were in need of extra support and constant reminders. Many students were procrastinating and felt like they "were a failure" within the program. What we heard What we heard The students have learned to overcome challenges, resilience, coping skills and experienced success to varying degrees. The life lessons learned this semester will follow them on their chosen paths and assist them when they face challenges in the future.
