Presidents Report Canada Day went exceptionally well with a great turnout Could use some fine tuning with the round up of volunteers All locks were changed...too many old keys lurking about allowing unauthorized entry DCA got a well-needed indoor facelift which went well The ball diamonds were in poor condition in 2013. A plan will be required by the spring of 2014 to remove weeds and refurbish infields AGM February 26, 2014 3

Presidents Report Activities Clean up was done by a combination of Sport n Play, DCA members and members of the community West Carleton Fibre Guild continues to meet once per month excellent to still have them Yoga and Zumba continue to run Very popular programs Summer Camps - City Sport N Play before and after school program continues to thrive in Dunrobin 4 AGM February 26, 2014

  5. Treasurer Report A surplus was realized for 2013 Canada Day and Ice Maintenance remain the largest expense by far The DCA Building Fund is growing 5 AGM February 26, 2014

  8. Ball Hockey Spring and fall event Constance Bay joined in 2011 Format well liked similar to shinny Could use a better playing surface Opportunity to grow Can help offset the revenue lost to soccer AGM February 26, 2014 Slide 8

Outdoor Hockey 30 kids 3 teams 5-7, 8-9 and 10-12 year olds The coaches kept the kids involved and engaged even on the coldest evenings which were not missed Many thanks to Carole Merritt and Sarah Pierce for coordinating the outdoor hockey league They plan on having a BBQ and open shinny party to wrap things up AGM February 26, 2014 Slide 9

Hockey Outdoor Hockey for kids with special needs is in it s 3rd year 15 children involved, up from 8 two years ago Expecting to grow again next year A trip to CTC for a skating party with Spartacus in March provided a fantastic finish We had many gracious volunteers to help out on the ice AGM February 26, 2014 Slide 10

Softball 50 players sign up summer 2014 (19 moved to other towns for older age division) Season ran from mid May to end of June (6 weeks), each team played twice per week, consisting of one home game and one away game 3 teams (1 Mite, 2 Atom) 3 coaches with great parent helpers Both diamond were busy Monday to Thursday evenings Many thanks to Sammy s Pizza and Dunrobin Meat for their continued sponsorship AGM February 26, 2014 12

  13. Softball WC league had 21 teams total 8 atoms, 7 Mites, 6 S/P Boys 12 games over the 6 week season Each team played one home and one away game each week Thank you Lori McGrath for your continued support AGM February 26, 2014 13

  14. Ice rink report No one answered tender this year Nadine saved the day with some sleuthing through the Dunrobin neighbourhoods to find the DCA ice people to make ice Fantastic year for skating. It s still going! Ice has been fantastic AGM February 26, 2014 14

  17. Canada Day Circus Delights was a fantastic show The fireworks were the best display ever for Dunrobin not sure on how are going to top it! Face painting, tattoos for kids Bouncy Houses were back Attendance was high this year Heavenly Blue provided music for the festival AGM February 26, 2014 17

Volunteers Goals for Youth Volunteers: Raise visibility and community involvement Provide job opportunity where referencing is possible Introduce new social skills Create sense of pride for accomplishment (reducing vandalism) Train the trainer is possible (improve self-esteem) Multiple possibilities where 40hr community service commitment be obtained. Bring new ideas for programs from the younger generation to the community centre Learn to cook/clean (for many) can AGM February 26, 2014 Slide 18
