Ok, now go back. Pause the film on the poster at 11 seconds. What do you think the film may be about now? When do you think the film may be set? What is The Little Freak?
Pause the film after 19 seconds when we see the caravan. What can you see? Do you think the director has chosen stormy weather on purpose? Why? Why do you think he may be using black and white?
Pause the film after 28 seconds when we see the table filled with strange objects. Tell me something you can see and what you think it could be used for.
Pause the film after his father says make a wish. What is special about today? Who has brought the cake? Why does he call him lad? What do you think he will wish for? What do you think his dad looks like?
Pause the film after wouldnt it be better? What does he wish for? He says wouldn t it be better? - Better than what?
Pause the film after he says, but thats not the worst part. What do people call him? Why do they call him this and when? What could possibly be worse?
Pause after the boys says the father says well? What has just happened? What does the boy think will change their lives? Do you think his father agrees with him?
Watch until the end of the film Explain why you think he only actually asks for more wood. Explain the use of internal monologue and how it allows the audience to see what a character is thinking or feeling. How is this example (of a monologue) is particularly powerful?
