How to make Cheese straws
Ingredients 110 grams plain flour 55 grams margarine 50 grams grated cheese a pinch of salt 1 egg yolk 1 to 2 tablespoons of water
1 2 3 Method 1. Put the flour and margarine into a bowl and use your finger tips to rub together until it resembles bread crumbs. 2. Add the grated cheese and salt. Mix together. 3. Add the egg yolk and water. Knead the mixture to a stiff dough. 4 5 4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface 5. Roll out to about 1cm thick. 6. Cut into fingers. 7. Place the fingers on a lined baking tray and ask an adult to place the baking tray in the oven.
8. Bake in the oven at 160C / gas mark 3 - for 15 minutes. Ask an adult to put the tray of cheese straws into the oven for you. 9. Once cooked ask an adult to take the cheese straws out of the oven and place them on a cooling rack. Be careful they will be hot. 10. Allow to cool. Enjoy eating your cheese straws as a snack with a glass of milk. Don t forget to help with the washing up.
