Introduction An online platform that intends to connect local Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) with local sellers in nearby locations, enabling them to buy and sell locally. a platform for individuals to trade used items and donate free items within the community. It utilises face-to-face interaction where buyers pay for what they see to avoid being scammed. Key features: location and mobile verification, share your meet up location, less than 40 seconds to post an item for sale, user reviews and ratings, search for item by category, search location option, secure private chat and video call with buyer and seller Cont: group items from same seller, favourite items to get notified of price drops, fraud detection system for potential signs of fraud and threats on the platform, screen reader compatibility and free items. The marketplace also aims to facilitate convenient, sustainable and socially responsible ecommerce within neighbourhoods. 3

Project progress The total amount required to develop EasyPlug hyperlocal marketplace is R300 000.00 South African Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) funded our project DEMO with an amount of R30 000.00. The demo will be completed end of October 2024. The South African Department of Science and Innovation in collaboration with Technology Innovation Agency awarded us a grant of R270 000.00 for the development, testing and quality assurance, deployments and final adjustments as well as post deployment support. The solution is likely to be completed in January 2025.
