Annual General Meeting: President s Report Presented by Henry Kachaje (ECAMA President) Sunbird Nkopola Lodge, Mangochi, 9thNovember, 2017
AGM Presidents Report Background: The current Executive was elected into office in August 2014. Our term of office is three years and technically expired in August 2017. The Executive members are: 1. Henry Kachaje President 2. Chikumbutso Kalilombe Vice President 3. Davie Lockie Secretary General 4. Lowina Banda Deputy Secretary General 5. Lauryn Nyasulu Treasurer 6. June Kambalametore Mtila Vice Treasurer 7. Hope Chavula Executive Member 8. Esnat Chilije - Executive Member 9. Dr Fanwell Bokosi - Executive Member 10. Dr Thomas Munthali - Executive Member
AGM Presidents Report The Executive members are: 1. President 2. Vice President 3. Secretary General 4. Deputy Secretary General 5. Treasurer 6. Vice Treasurer 7. Executive Member X 4
AGM Presidents Report Key Highlights: ECAMA has held annual conferences consistently. 2015 conference was opened by the Head of State ECAMA has been involved in the Pre-Budget consultations with the Ministry of Finance ECAMA has been involved and engaged in a number of high level policy conferences and meetings ACAMA Secretariat has moved to better spacious and well located offices in Area 14 ECAMA has finally recruited an Executive Director under secondment from the Reserve Bank
AGM Presidents Report Key Challenges: ECAMA membership growth has been a challenge Low sponsorship from corporate and individual members Lack of ECAMA Secretariat leadership absence of a full- time ED / several months without leadership Lack of adequate resources for implementing ECAMA programs especially research work ECAMA has been operating for long without an in-house Economist since Mervis Maliketi left
AGM Presidents Report Key Challenges: Membership growth has been a challenge Low sponsorship from corporate and individual members Lack of ECAMA Secretariat leadership absence of a committed ED / several months without leadership Lack of adequate resources for implementing ECAMA programs especially research work Have operated for long without an in-house Economist
AGM Presidents Report Conclusion and Way-forward: I am happy to have served as ECAMA President for the past 3yrs and a special thanks to the Executive Members Team that I worked with Although we might not have moved ECAMA to the heights we had anticipated, we can confidently say that we have made strides and moved ECAMA forward in a number of ways I am particularly happy to leave office in the able hands of a newly recruited Executive Director, who I believe with the help of the new executive members to be elected, ECAMA will move on a more sustainable growth path
