Eco Assembly What can YOU do to help?
Litter Make sure that all your litter is put in the bin! Use the recycling bins for crisp and biscuit wrappers ONLY. If you see litter on the ground, pick it up!
Which playground is the tidiest? We will have a weekly competition to see who can pick up the most litter! The tidiest playground each week will win 5 minutes extra play at break times on Friday.
Snacks & packed lunches Use a tub, a box or beeswax wraps instead of clingfilm to wrap your sandwiches. Use a refillable water bottle instead of single use plastic bottles. Choose healthy, unpackaged items where possible Reduce food waste try not to waste your food. Make sure to only order foods you actually like!
Energy & Water Switch off lights, monitors, computers and whiteboards when not in use. Do not leave taps running in the toilets. Close windows, doors and blinds as required.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Think about your paper use can you REDUCE the amount of paper you use in the first place? Can you REUSE the paper again? If not, then RECYCLE! There are paper bins in every class and the Junior Jannies will empty these each week. There are recycling bins in the blue hall for toothbrushes and used pens. If the current bins are used responsibly, we might be able to add bins for ink cartridges and batteries. Limit hand towel/blue roll use take only the smallest amount you need.
Be an Eco Warrior If you see litter being dropped, or food or paper being wasted, then speak up and take action. Remind your teachers too, if you see them leaving the board on or wasting paper! Think about displays in class do you need to laminate everything? What about backing onto old cereal boxes instead?
ECO CODE We need to create a new eco code for the school. The Eco Code is important because it shows that we are committed to being environmentally friendly. We would like each class to submit an Eco Code by Friday 31st October. The Eco Committee will then take the best bits from all the classes and put together a snazzy new Eco Code poster! Here are some examples:

If you have any more ideas for reducing waste and being more environmentally friendly, speak to your Eco rep and they will raise them at the next meeting. We can t wait to see your finished Eco Codes! Thank you for listening
