  2. CORE INTERVENTIONS Critical Infrastructure Programme: Infrastructure work. Policy Development: Development of policy for industrial parks. Eco-Industrial Park Programme: GEIPP, SDG s, NDC s, RECP, LCM, IS, etc. Digital Hub Programme: Supporting ICTs. Standard Operating Procedures: Development of SOPs and Guides for IP operations. Master plans: Development of comprehensive master plans for each industrial park. Research, Development and Innovation: Innovation, Technology commercialization, R&D, 4IR Skills and Capacity Development: Operators, tenants Events: Workshops, annual symposium, working groups Grading/ Certification systems: Establish a common baseline/ frame of reference. 2

COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIPS The RID unit has been increasing its collaboration with: DSI (Science and Innovation) DFFE (Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment) National Treasury DWSHS (Water, Sanitation and Human Settlements) COGTA (Cooperative Governance) Other departments (DRDLR, DSBD, DMRE) Provincial government and municipalities Strengthening ties with private sector partners and other key stakeholders: Industry associations and companies SOEs (CSIR, NCPC-SA, Eskom, SANEDI, HSRC, ASSAF, TIA) Institutions (UNIDO, GIZ, SECO) Universities (UP, UJ, Wits, UKZN, UWC, NWU, US, UCT) 3

ECO-INDUSTRIAL PARK PROGRAMME (EIP) Strategic pillars: Climate change, Global Warming, Emissions; Sustainability, SDG s, Just Transition; Industrialization, Socio-economic development; Driving 3 main areas: Water, Energy, Waste/ Materials; Partnerships and Collaborative approach: UNIDO, NCPC, GIZ, SECO, SANEDI, CSIR, Eskom, Impact Catalyst and others; Activities: NCPC RECP assessments; GEIPP; EIP Roundtable. 4

GLOBAL ECO-INDUSTRIAL PARKS PROGRAMME (GEIPP) Implemented from 2021 to 2023 through a collaboration of UNIDO with the the dtic; Strategically placed within the dtic as their core services include Industrial Parks Revitalisation Programme (IPRP); Managed and delivered by the National Cleaner Production Centre of South Africa (NCPC-SA); Funded by the Swiss Government through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland (SECO); EIP policy support; Capacity building; Assessments; Awareness. 5
