Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 Admission Statement (to be commenced) The Admissions Statement will be required to include a statement that the school will not discriminate in the admission of a student on the basis of : Disability Special Education Needs Sexual Orientation Family Status
Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 Membership of the Traveller Community Race Civil Status Gender Religion The Act makes provision for single sex schools and denominational schools in certain circumstances. Once this section is commenced schools will have 3 months to prepare Admissions Policy
Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 A school that, with the approval of the Minister, provides an education exclusively for students with SEN or categories of SEN, must include a statement that a student who does not have the specified category of SEN may be refused

Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 ADDITIONAL PROVISION FOR EDUCATION OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS
Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 From 3 December 2018, the Minister will have the power, after a process of consultation with the National Council for Special Education (NCSE), the Board of Management and the Patron of a school, to compel a school to make additional provision for the education of children with special educational needs
Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 NCSE will undertake a consultation process with all Education Partners in early November in order to inform and refine protocols currently being developed in respect of the above.
Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 NCSE will be required to form an opinion that there is insufficient capacity in an area in relation to the provision of education for children with special education needs. The Council shall inform the Minister by notice in writing of its opinion and the reasons for its opinion and shall specify the type of provision in respect of where there is insufficient capacity

Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 NCSE/ DES Working Group currently developing working protocol in place to ensure that there is effective pro-active planning and timely delivery of specialist educational places in, and school transport arrangements for, students who need to enrol in special classes and special schools.
