FULL PROPOSAL PRESENTATION GUIDANCE Residency principal, residency program administrator, initial superintendent, and initial CTE administrator
APPROVAL PROCESS STAGE Congratulations! At this final stage in the approval process, your full proposal has been reviewed by PESB s internal review team (IRT) and your organization has decided to present your full proposal at an upcoming PESB board meeting. Through the full proposal, program leaders describe in what ways proposed program leaders will ensure specific program requirements. Program leaders also have an opportunity to provide any changes or updates to proposed strategies and actions from the pre-proposal. If approved, program leaders should be prepared to fully implement the proposed program. For additional information about the approval process, please visit PESB s website. 2 | pesb.wa.gov
NEXT STEPS IN THE APPROVAL PROCESS Present your board presentation to PESB staff during the practice presentation. 01 04 Schedule a practice presentation with PESB. Incorporate key program elements and PESB staff feedback into a 10 minute powerpoint presentation for the board. Incorporate feedback from the practice presentation into your board presentation. 02 05 Submit your updated proposal, slidedeck, and answers to pre-practice presentation questions to PESB staff. 03 06 Submit the updated board presentation to PESB. 3 | pesb.wa.gov
PRESENTATION OBJECTIVES Board members will have had the opportunity to review your detailed proposal and PESB staff feedback. With that in mind, consider the presentation as an opportunity to: Highlight the program components you are particularly excited about. Present your case for why this program should be offered by your institution. Consider the visual appeal and tone of your presentation. 4 | pesb.wa.gov
PRESENTATION LENGTH AND DETAIL Presentations are 10 minutes and will be ended at that time mark even if not completed. You will not have time to go in depth on all of the key items, so keep descriptions brief. Board members will ask questions after the presentation. 5 | pesb.wa.gov
CULTURAL RESPONSIVENESS Integrate how your proposed program operationalizes cultural responsiveness throughout your presentation. Provide specific examples. PROGRAM DESIGN CONTENT LOCALLY RESPONSIVE your structures and actions must be culturally responsive in order to develop and empower candidates, especially candidates from underrepresented communities. your content must be set up to produce culturally responsive completers, who can be responsive to their future students, communities, schools, and districts . your structures, framework, and content should reflect your community and context. 6 | pesb.wa.gov
KEY PRESENTATION ITEMS This is not a required order. Please organize your presentation to best suite your program design and development. The following examples are suggestions. Introduce yourself, your organization, and degree / certificate / program sought. Examples include: Content and field experiences progression How content and field experiences are aligned to role standards. What specific strategies will you employ to create an inclusive environment, particularly for candidates of color? How will data be used for ongoing improvement of your program? AFTER THE PRESENTATION After the presentation and Board questions, the Board will take a vote to approve or deny the full proposal. If the full proposal is approved, the program can begin operating with initial approval immediately. If the full proposal is denied, prospective program leaders will not be able to begin operation, and can make the decision to re- submit the proposal informed by the Board s feedback.
