  1. More about Performance Management What it IS A means of preventing poor performance and working together to improve performance It s about talking AND listening It s about BOTH people learning and improving On-going, two-way communication between worker and supervisor If done well everyone wins What is ISN T Something a supervisor DOES TO an worker A club or stick to force people to work better or harder Something used only in poor performance situations About completing forms once a year or at the end of the summer

  2. Giving Performance Feedback Performance feedback should be developmental For many Right Track workers this is their FIRST job/new to your workplace Feedback for workers should be timely, specific, relevant and meaningful.

  3. Giving good performance feedback Less effective More effective Ed demonstrates a superior ability to prepare ballfields for competition. His attention to important details is impressive. Aljaya easily develops rapport with customers and goes the extra mile to ensure that all of their questions are answered. Ed did a nice job outside this year. Aljaya is good at customer service .

  4. More performance feedback Less effective More effective Zeke s struggles with Word and Excel limit his ability to make contributions to the team. Steve s unwillingness to consider any perspective except his own frequently leads to tense situations when dealing with co-workers and customers. Tardiness and absence continue to be an issue with Amy. Making and following a morning plan and allowing enough time for transit will go a long way toward helping her be seen as the young professional I know she can become. Zeke needs to improve his computer skills. Steve needs work on customer service. Our Right Track worker was not reliable.

  5. More ideas for feedback Point out what they did right Help workers understand where they ARE meeting the mark and provide feedback about how they can improve Give them hope that they can get there!
