Team Teaching Tips, Tricks, and Techniques Jon Chandler, UCL j.p.chandler@ucl.ac.uk _jon_chandler
1. Establish Your Working Relationships What do you expect from the module leader(s) and what do they expect from you? What are the non-negotiables? Where are you allowed greater flexibility?
2. Schedule Planning Time What input will the module leader(s) have? What guidance do you want/need? Are there peers that you can you plan collaboratively (and efficiently) with?
3. Share The Load Are there peers with whom you can share ideas and experiences? Who can you go to for advice and support? Are there peers who you can observe you teach?
4. Communicate! What are the lines of communication? Who do you talk to about students of concern? Who is responsible for communicating with students about the course?
5. Promote Group Work Can you cultivate group work within or across seminars? Can you collaborate with a peer to promote group work? Are there any activities which would be better with another pair of hands?
6. Collaborate With Technology What learning technologies can you use to support teacher and student collaboration in any context? How can the virtual learning environment reflect the collaborative classroom environment that you would like to create? Remembers, students should not work in isolation, and neither should we!
