ePIC Simulation Software Meeting Oxford 5 July 2024 Sam Henry, Long Li, Tuna Tasali, Fergus Wilson Summary for WP1 meeting 17 July 1024
Background UK ePIC simulation work so far Birmingham: Long Li, Stephen Maple Fun4All and EIC reconstruction software Investigated track momentum resolution and distance of closest approach. Oxford Sam Henry, Sonny Fecanin, Tuna Tasali EIC-shell software and Geant4 Simulated background radiation from e+p and beam gas events Building geometry from CAD files RAL Fergus Wilson
Plan of action summer 2024 Hold regular Zoom meetings; contact with ePIC collaboration Repository for CAD files; versioning system Create dd4hep geometry for L3, L4 barrels from CAD files; simplify as necessary. Write up process so any future changes to the design can be easily included. Produce material scan plots showing X/X0 over all eta, phi for different Z. Simulate the passage of muons and use the reconstruction software to plot track momentum resolution ( p/p) and distance of closest approach to beamline for tracks of different momenta. Repeat study for different L3 and L4 radii and different overlaps. Smear silicon position data to simulate finite pixel size and investigate impact Investigate impact of dead pixels Investigate more detailed simulation of semiconductor using Allpix Squared. Write up results to provide input to a future TDR.
