Integrates the CA Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts/Literacy and the CA English Language Development (ELD) Standards Cross-disciplinary focus Integration of content and literacy Equity for all students is emphasized

Integrated & Designated ELD: Integrated & Designated ELD: Working in Tandem Working in Tandem Both/And Integrated ELD: All teachers with ELs in their classrooms use the CA ELD Standards in tandem with the CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy and other content standards. Designated ELD: Teachers use the CA ELD Standards as the focal standards in ways that build into and from content instruction.

SCUSD has already: Created a three-year implementation plan Begun providing professional learning for teachers, principals and district leaders Next steps: Expand professional learning Revise the SCUSD EL Master Plan to reflect recommended changes for the instructional and professional development programs

  9. We need your help: Participate in the parent/community committee that will help revise the master plan Find out how the ELAC at your child s school can help with the transition to the new model of ELD. The transition may require investments of time and money.
