  2. Life happens, and the right money at the right time matters. That s why we ve partnered with Canary to launch the ABM Cares Team Member Relief Fund ( ABM Fund ). With this resource, eligible ABM team members can apply for emergency funds and offer help in times of financial hardship - efficiently, quickly, and with dignity. Confidential.

  3. The ABM Fund is the newest part of the ABM Cares program. It is available to full-time Staff & Management and Frontline employees who have been employed by ABM for at least six months. As HR and People Leaders, it is important to familiarize yourself with this program, help spread the word and support employees who may have questions. Read on to learn about the program and the role you play.

  4. When an eligible employee experiences financial hardship as a result of an unexpected or unusual event, they can submit an application on the ABM Fund Grant Circle website for up to $1,000* in grant assistance. Anyone who would like to can donate to the fund. *The maximum, cumulative per-employee grant amount is $1,000 USD per year. Even if a employee is approved for more than one grant, the total amount cannot be more than $1,000 USD per year. The maximum number of grants a employee can receive in a year is two.

  5. This quick, dignified access to emergency financial support protects employees' privacy gives employees peace of mind is handled with care gets employees the money they need never needs to be repaid is never taxed

  6. Employees often have questions. You are not expected to have all the answers, and that s okay. In fact, that s by design. To protect employee privacy, Canary: manages the program administration, keeping application details and identities confidential from ABM asks ABM HR representatives to be familiar with the basic eligibility criteria and application process asks that you direct additional questions to us program and platform questions go to abm@grantcircles.org the easiest way to communicate with Canary is to message through the ABM Fund Grant Circle website using an open application

  7. What HR and People Leaders should direct to Canary What HR and People Leaders should know What the ABM Fund is (see slide 4) Who can apply for assistance (see slide 8) What types of events qualify for assistance (see slide 9) What qualifies as an eligible hardship expense (see slide 10) How much money can an employee receive (see slide 4) Generally, what the application process looks like (see slide 11) ABM will never know the personal details of a request. The grant money is not taxed and never has to be paid back. I read the ABM Fund FAQ, but am still confused about what documentation I should upload. Can you help? I m concerned that my application will be denied, what can I do to try and make sure that doesn t happen? I haven t heard back from Canary yet, what do I do? My medical bill s date of service is not within the eligibility period, but the statement date is. Can I still apply? I m getting an error when I enter my unique ID. What do I do?

  8. Who can apply for assistance? U.S.-based full-time equivalent (FTE) ABM employees who have been employed with ABM for at least six months*, and have experienced at least one qualifying emergency within the past three months. RavenVolt and Quality Uptime Services employees are included. *If an employee was previously employed by ABM and has recently been rehired, and had previously been employed by ABM for six months or more, there is a 60-day waiting period after the rehire date before the employee can apply for funds. This does not include independent contractors or employees of subcontractors/vendors.

  9. What types of events qualify for assistance? Eligible events must have occurred within three months of the application date. The loss cannot be reimbursable by insurance or similar arrangement. Such events include: A natural disaster or catastrophe Medical bills not covered by insurance for the employee or someone they have financial responsibility for Medical leave not covered by PTO, affecting the employee or someone in their household Catastrophic car issue Eviction or forced move Death in the family, including a spouse or partner, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle Unexpected home or property issue (e.g., damage due to burst pipe) Domestic issue (e.g., domestic violence, unexpected caretaking responsibilities or loss of housing due to a break up) Robbery or burglary Utility disconnection Loss of income For details about each of these eligible financial hardship events, please refer employees to the ABM Fund FAQ.

  10. What qualifies as an eligible hardship expense? The following is a comprehensive list of eligible expenses. For details on documentation required for each expense, please refer employees to the ABM Fund FAQ. Mortgage or rent Utilities Food Medical Car repair Car loan or lease Transportation Emergency travel Home repair Moving expenses Funeral or burial Minimum debt payment Childcare Education Clothing Elder care

  11. The process at a glance The employee submits application on the ABM Fund Grant Circle website and creates a PayPal account They will provide their Person Number (found in their Team Member Gateway profile, or by contacting their HR Partner), details about their emergency, and supporting documentation. Supporting documentation varies by the nature of the request. Employees can find detailed guidance on the ABM Fund FAQ, or email abm@grantcircles.org for guidance. PDFs are preferred, but pictures of documentation are acceptable. 1 2 Canary reviews applications within 1-2 business days Efforts are made to review requests on weekends, but requests submitted on Fridays may not be fully reviewed until the following Monday. If additional information is needed to process the grant request, Canary will reach out to the employee. If this occurs, the length of the process depends on the employee's response time. Employees can check on their application by logging into the Grant Circle. 3 If approved, applicants will receive funds via PayPal Once approved, payment typically arrives within one business day. These funds are not considered taxable income. 4 If denied, the employee will receive an email with rationale
