Whythismeeting? Reactivate this working group Explore the possibilities for new projects get ready for JPA 2025
Priority substancesfor EU SoilMonitoring law Milestones Milestones July 2023: EU COM proposal Soil Monitoring Law (SML) April 2024: EU Parliament adopts its position June 2024: EU Council agreed and approved general approach towards the EU SML Upcoming: trilogue negotiations
Priority substancesfor EU SoilMonitoring law Setting up a monitoring framework to assess the soil health and follow the evolution of soil health and to identify degraded soils in order to regenerate soils and contribute to the 2050 objective Annex I, Part B: Soildescriptors with criteria for healthy soil condition established at MS level Soilcontamination: - Concentration of heavy metals in soil (As, Sb, Cd, Co, Cr total, Cu, Hg, Pb, Ni, Tl, V, Zn) - Concentration of a selection of organic contaminants established by the Member States and taking into account existing concentration limits e.g. water quality and air emissions in EU legislation
Improving PFAS-Analytic -Direct TOPA (dTOPA) The TOP-Assay (TOPA) is a useful tool for detecting precursors. The direct Top-Assay (dTOP) is a further development G ckener et al 2021: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.scitotenv.2021.146825) Zweigle et al.,2023 https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.est.2c07969?urlappend=%3Fref%3DPDF&jav=VoR&rel=cite-as Question: Do you see the need for developing a standard protocol for the dTop regarding soil?
