Ebola May 8th, 2018 Democratic Republic of the Congo reported an outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD) 53 cases of EVD have been reported as of July 1st, 2018 38 Confirmed 15 Probable 29 Deaths (54.7% CFR) All contacts completed 21-day follow-up as of June 27th Last reported case was June 6th 2
Zika CDC ended EOC operations for the Zika response on September 29th, 2017 Virginia Zika Case Counts 2015 (4) 2016 (133) 2017 (13) 2018 (2) as of July 16th, 2018 4
Zika U.S. Zika Pregnancy and Infant Registry tracked exposed pregnant women who completed their pregnancies from December 1, 2015 to March 31, 2018, and their infants Virginia had 69 pregnant women enrolled in the registry; infants will be monitored through 24 months with surveillance ending September 2019 Zika Birth Defects Surveillance is confirming select birth defects reported into the Virginia Congenital Anomalies Reporting and Education System (VaCARES), and initiating referrals to Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) programs. 5

Variant Influenza Virus Maryland experienced human infections with H3N2v in 2017 40 cases were identified as of October 4th, 2017 Cases reported close contact with pigs at various county fairs First variant case for 2018 was identified June 29th in a child with swine exposure at a fair in Indiana VDH continues to work with other state agencies, like VDACS, to share prevention and control measures with fair organizers and monitor for cases of variant influenza virus. 9
Hepatitis A Have seen a national increase in reported cases among People who use drugs People who are homeless Men who have sex with men (MSM) population States that have experienced this increase include: Arkansas, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia 2018 Virginia has seen an increase in its Central Region among its MSM population 10
