  1. Creating Opportunities for Americas 3 Million Veteran-Owned Businesses

  2. What is NaVOBA? NaVOBA is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization led by Corporate Supplier Diversity professionals. NaVOBA s mission is to create corporate contracting opportunities for America s Veteran s and Service-Disabled Veteran s Business Enterprises (VBEs/SDVBEs) through certification, advocacy, outreach, recognition and education.

  3. Certifying Americas Veterans and Service- Disabled Veteran s Businesses

  4. Why is Veteran and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business Certification important? Entrepreneurship is one area that has proven to help increase post-military success for many veterans. Veterans are twice as likely to start a business as non- veteran counterparts and hire more veterans as employees.

  5. Why is an Inclusive Supply Chain Important? Why is an Inclusive Supply Chain Important? Although many believe government mandates are the business driver for Supplier Diversity, the reality is that corporations represent an even bigger buying pool. Corporations know that including ALL businesses within their supply chain leads to competitive pricing, better and more agile supplier solutions, increased corporate social responsibility and greater bottom line impact.

  6. Criteria and Eligibility Company must be at least 51% owned, operated, managed and controlled by a veteran or service-disabled veteran. Keep the questionnaire confidential, please do not share the contents with the applicant Go through the questions and ask the applicant to provide answers or show you documents such as canceled checks online.

  8. Site Visitor Role continued.. The objective is to get the applicant talking about their business and take down notes of what they share. We need to know that the applicant is in control of the business, makes final decisions without dependence on any non-veteran owners. The questions are designed for large or small applicants, so sometimes one person is responsible for everything. Note that in the comments. Take a tour, if applicable to get a sense of how well the staff knows the business owner. We will inform you in advance if there are concerns that require further investigation at the site visit. When you are finished, please tell the applicant you will be turning in your report, and that NaVOBA will get back to them with a decision. Complete the online site visit questionnaire with the responses from your interview. Check the box at the bottom if you recommend that we certify. Check the Green Qualified box at the top
