COUNCIL PLANS 2022-2023 KWAZULU-NATAL AQUATICS
KZN SCHOOLS AQUATICS Overall Aim To promote swimming in schools throughout the province.
KZN SCHOOLS AQUATICS Objectives 1. To improve and update the data base of schools in each district and to ensure that the schools committees are representative of the demographics of the district. To promote the formation of swimming clubs in schools with facilities or in close proximity of facilities in the various districts 3. To encourage educators and parents of schools to involve themselves in Technical Officials Coaching and Administrative Courses 4. To increase the number of swimmers participating at District Schools Aquatics Championships 5. To encourage participation in Provincial and National and International events 6. To support swimmers selected to represent the province for the National Schools Tournament 2.
KZN SCHOOLS AQUATICS Activities Objective 1.To improve and update the schools data base for each district in the province and to ensure that that the schools committee is representative of the demographics of the District Key Activities Complete Schools survey Update data base and contact details of schools Strengthening Schools Districts committees Communicate with all schools in the District through various means and encourage teachers and parents from various communities to get involved in school swimming 2. Promote the formation of swimming clubs in schools in the various districts Identify schools with pools or close to pools Promote learn to swim at schools with pools or in schools that are close to pools Form, as a start, a swimming club in each of the Districts in the Province (12). These selected schools will need to be supported by the KZN DSR/DOE and the Federation Run courses with the assistance of the Federation Get teachers and parents who have qualified asTechnical Officials to officiate at Federation and Schools galas Teachers and parents who qualify as coaches to start Clubs at their schools and coach Educators and parents to be encouaged to take on administrative roles in the club at the school 3. To encourage educators and parents of schools to involve themselves in Technical Officials , Coaching and Administrative Courses
KZN SCHOOLS AQUATICS Activities 4. To increase the number of swimmers participating in Schools District Championships School swimmers will be encouraged to participate in KZNA galas and inter-school galas to prepare for participation in Schools District Championships. A programme needs to be run collectively by the Federation Districts and Schools Structures in each District to ecourage participation of schools; swimmers. Schools that have competitive swimmers will be encouraged to enter their swimmers in the District Championships in order to be eligible for Provincial, National and International selections. Set up meeting with coaches to get their commitment to drive this objective 5. To encourage participation in the Provincial,National and International events 6. To prepare swimmers selected to represent the province for the National Schools Tournament To engage selected swimmers in a camp to prepare for the National Tournament
KWAZULU-NATAL SCHOOLS AQUATICS Outputs Objective Measurable Outputs Make Targets SMART Have a data base including contact details of all schools in the various districts in the province and information regarding schools that promote swimming and those interested in promoting Swimming by Date ???. 1.To improve and update schools data base for each district in the province 2. Promote formation of swimming clubs in schools in the various districts 3.To encourage educators and parents of schools to involve themselves in Technical Officials , Coaching and Administrative Courses the To establish 12 new School Clubs in the province by Date.???? To increase the number of teachers and parents that become Technical Officials, Coaches and Administrators that will encourage the formation of Clubs in each District. Need a NUMBER of OFFICAILS e.g. 100 new teachers trained as officials

To encourage participation in the Provincial and National Competitions See an increase of a minimum of 20 swimmers participating in each District Championship in the forthcoming District Championships by Date??? Coaches and schools to encourage their swimmers to participate in the District Championships Date, number of schools, Look at incentive for Coaches Swimmers to be better prepared for participation in the National Tournament. How do you measure better prepared 6. To support swimmers selected to represent the province for the National Schools Tournament
KZN SCHOOLS AQUATICS Challenges and Threats Lack of response and support from schools need better comms with schools how Need concrete inititive Schools District Committees being dysfunctional and not driving objectives Amalgamate the District Federation Structure with the District Schools Structure Look at Policy for Home Scholars how to acommodate Coaches and schools not supporting the objectives and not encouraging their swimmers to participate in the District Championships Incentivise Coaches for bring in new school swimmers Coaches not releasing their swimmers to participate in the camp to prepare for the National Schools
