[Insert name of council] partnership with State Library of Queensland The State Library of Queensland advocates for public libraries and partners with local government to enable a thriving statewide network of public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres. Realising our potential is the shared vision for Queensland public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres. It provides a framework to drive the development of services that support your community now and into the future, and to contribute to council s strategic plan. [Insert name of council] is part of a statewide network of more than 320 public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres with: Example - 5 libraries Example - Mobile library Example - Pop-up library
Realising our potential: A vision for Queensland public libraries 2018-19 Queensland public library network highlights: total expenditure on public library services of approx. $256 million expenditure on collections of $6.34 per capita resulted in more than 1.1 million new items added to the collections and available to members total collection usage of more than 36.8 million from over 7 million collection items onsite visits of approximately 21.4 million, 16 million catalogue searches and 13.6 million visits to library websites almost 2 million members, with more than 270,000 new members over 1.8 million attendances at more than 87,000 events and programs, including more than 1.4 million attendances at more than 53,000 events and programs for young people aged 0-17 and their carers.
The value of public libraries Queensland public libraries provide free, equitable and inclusive access and services to all members of the community. Libraries are: social hubs where the community meets and gathers in vibrant community spaces economic enablers providing job-ready skills for job seekers and workspaces for micro/small businesses and wandering workers literacy champions supporting the development of reading, writing, health, financial, media and other literacies for all ages learning hubs providing access to resources, pathways to knowledge and lifelong learning opportunities creative spaces where exploring new skills, following passions and creating new works is encouraged digital inclusion champions providing access to the internet, electronic collection, technology and digital literacy training protectors of local culture and heritage building collections that focus on unique local stories.
Public Library Grant and Service Level Agreement Public Library Grant The State Library of Queensland administers the annual Public Library Grant to Queensland local governments to support the development of high-quality library and library-related services to meet the diverse needs of the whole community. Public Library Grant allocations for Independent Library services are provided directly to council to support the development of library collections. Service Level Agreement The Public Library Grant is administered under a Service Level Agreement between the Library Board of Queensland and [insert name of council].
First 5 Forever funding and Service Level Agreement First 5 Forever funding First 5 Forever is a family literacy program delivered by public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres with the primary aim of providing strong early literacy foundations for all Queensland children aged 0-5 years. Funding to support the local delivery of First 5 Forever programs is provided annually to all eligible Queensland councils that operate a public library or Indigenous Knowledge Centre service. Service Level Agreement The First 5 Forever funding is administered under a Service Level Agreement between the Library Board of Queensland and [insert name of council].
