MOOSE Meeting Agenda MOOSE Meeting Agenda September 7, 2016 September 7, 2016 Kindergarten Kindergarten shannonglover@hebisd.edu shannonglover@hebisd.edu
This is a meeting about Kindergarten in general, please hold all questions that are about your child specifically, until we can visit privately. Feel free to email me or set up a conference before October 5th, if you have pressing questions.
Empowering Today To Excel Tomorrow! Children are responsible for their own learning. They will be taught what is expected of them. They will be taught how to improve their skills. They will be given opportunity to practice. As their teacher I am their guide and support. We will track our progress.
Data folders will be kept in the classroom, however students will be allowed to bring them home when they have made progress. When a student has made progress they will come home excited to show you what they have done. We will celebrate our accomplishments. They are so proud of themselves for reaching their goals. This makes for a very positive and supportive classroom.

Independence Allow your student to do things on their own at home. Being independent instills confidence and we strive to send them the unspoken message that I am capable!
Conscious Discipline It is based on brain research. The brain seeks connection not attention. You need- 1. eye contact 2. touch and 3. Playful interaction In order to make connections with kids. We are all adding this into our classrooms at our own pace.
Conscious Discipline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pHvNMHu LBY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMvrK_8alO E Conscious Discipline links will be added to the Kindergarten newsletter for parents so we can all learn the right way to help our children handle different feelings.
Arrival and Dismissal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E85TLx3MiYU&f eature=youtu.be *Drop off all students at the front doors of the school starting at 7:15. *Children need to be in the classroom at 7:50 or they will be TARDY!! *Make sure your student has time to walk to the classroom after you drop them off.
Pink- car tags are required to pick up all children everyday. Even if we know you. This is the rule and it is the rule for everyone everyday.
If you are in your car, please pull as far forward as possible. You may pull all the way up to the red bench. However do not block the crosswalk. Teachers will always walk your child to your car and by pulling forward you make it possible for us to load more kids at a time, which should solve the traffic problem.
If you are walking up to pick up your child please remember to cross at the crosswalk. Crossing in any other place stops the flow of traffic and again keeps us from moving dismissal traffic. If your student will be going home in a different way, please be sure to notify their teacher as early in the day as possible. Our planning time is from 12:45-1:30 and this is when we are not with your children, which makes it the perfect time for messages and emails.
