What Is Dr Edwin Locke's Goal What Is Dr Edwin Locke's Goal- -Setting Theory? Setting Theory? In the late 1960s, Locke's pioneering research into goal setting and motivation gave us our modern understanding of goal setting.
Locke's Goal-Setting Theory? "SMART" goals are: o Specific, o Measurable, o Attainable, o Relevant, and o Time-bound.

Step 1: State Goals 1. Describe one or more specific, obtainable and inspiring short term goals (1 month) 2. Describe one or more specific and obtainable long term goals (6 month to a year)
Step 2: Collect Ideas Collect Ideas 1. Choose 1 of your short term goals 2. Brainstorm in pairs up to 15 ideas for accomplishing one of your short-term goals (Write down every idea do not evaluate)
Step 3: Evaluate Evaluate Evaluate your own list check or cross the ideas you will try
Step 4: Choose Your Plan Choose Your Plan 1. Choose and describe 2 or 3 specific actions you will take each week. E.g Week 1: I will a. b c 2. Repeat for remaing 3 weeks. 3. Remember to make your steps Smart
