  2. Who is this leader? Detail Who you are: Where you are from: What makes you unique: I am Sindisiwe Nleya, from Tshitshi Ward 4, Mangwe District, Mat-South Province. I am unique because l am the longserving councillor for 21years, Council Chairperson of Mangwe RDC, vice chairperson of Provincial Chapter and again Chairlady for Mat- South Province Zanu P.F. I hold a Degree in BSC Honours Degree in Peace, Conflict and Governance Include Photos or videos

  3. What drives you? Detail Vision:To be a leader in the empowerment and uplifting of women and young women and disadvantaged groups in Zimbabwe and beyond by 2030 Objectives: To see women and young women influential positions in decision making, in political, economical, social spheres, To improve the living standard in poor communities, To lobby for the education of climate change and other environmental threats. Include Photos or videos Your commitment to gender equality: To advocate equal opportunitiesin all sector of the social, political and economic arrears, Women and young women to participate in the political, social and economic development in communities, To implement 50/50 gender equality and To increase awareness on gender inequalities as a way of minimising conflict in both genders

  4. What do you do Detail Describe your work and how you have influenced gender equality e.g. gender mainstreaming and gender budgeting . I educate women to understand gender disparities by involving them in self- help projects and initiatives that address women needs, to encourage women and young women to participate in budgeting processes and planning Include Photos or videos

  5. Influence at community level How have you influenced community/citizen participation in budget processes? Have identified different groups such as business community, farmers, miners, women, youths, orphans, people living with disability to participate in budget processes and also made them understand the importance of their involvement in budget processes Include Photos or videos

  6. Changes at policy level To what extent have you contributed towards gender equality policy changes in the council? Have you advocated or lobbied for any changes in the budget to make it more gender responsive?. Have formed gender committee in Council and gender policy in the Council. Have also lobbied for 30%women quota in Local Authority, appointed Gender Focal Person and Gender Champion MANGWE RURAL DISTRICT COUNCIL GENDER POLICY

  7. Changes at individual level How has championing gender influenced your life? It has made me to take balanced decision, to be inclusive in all decisions. Gender equality challenges Describe the challenges faced in pushing for gender equality in your community and organisation, especially gender budgeting issues Patriarchal tendencies like culture, men tend to not to support women empowerment, traditional beliefs and religion beliefs , lack of education and knowledge, ignorance of the law and poverty Share videos/photos of evidence

Next steps To champion gender equality by empowering, lobbying, advocating, uplifting of women and youths, To become a role model in position of higher decision making and authority, to contribute and improve women participation in all budget processes, To lobby for the inclusion of women in social, political and economic spheres, To lobby the sponsorship of young women to attain higher educational qualification and also to encourage women to form business groups in order to guarantee security to lending financial institutions What are your future plans?
