  2. Blayney Blades CLG. grew out of the provision of womens self-development and household management classes initiated and run by the Parish Sister, Sr. Celine and sponsored by Castleblayney Trust. The vision is that women and their families in the Castleblayney area have access to all the personal, social and educational help they require in their quest for a fuller and involved life.

  3. Our Mission Our mission as a women s group is to be committed to promoting and supporting the Holistic Development of women and their families so that they may develop their own potential and play an active role in their communities.

Womens Collective Ireland & Blayney Blades In 2011, Blayney Blades became part of the Women s Collective Ireland which is a national organisation that works directly with and represents the interests of women at grassroots level from communities in rural and urban settings throughout Ireland Funded by the Dept. of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, WCI work to advance equality for women who experience disadvantage and marginalisation. As part of WCI, our work continues to evolve in response to the needs identified by grassroots women while ensuring the voice and visibility of these women.

  5. WCI Blayney Blades Principles Women s Collective Ireland works from two core approaches a feminist approach and a community development approach both of which are naturally linked. These approaches underpin all aspects of WCI Blayney Blades work.

  6. What WCI do at a National Level The services we provide include childcare centres, drop-in/information centres and affordable accessible counselling. Our main activities include: Community development, community education and community building Pre-development and training support to provide a pathway to education and training Awareness-raising on gender-based violence Promoting women s equality, community leadership and empowerment Promoting and supporting women s health and well-being Awareness-raising on disadvantaged women s gender equality and human rights Facilitating access to local services and supports Networking and representation of women at local, regional, national and international levels.
