
Empowering Young People for Preparedness and Self-Protection
Enhance the awareness of young individuals on preparedness and self-protection through an innovative education program. The project aims to create a safer environment, introduce advanced training, and identify best practices for emergency response in European countries. Partners include the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, Austrian Red Cross, Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, and Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj.

Project background In most of the European countries the knowledge regarding measures taken in self-help and -protection is very poor An effective and proactive education program has to be provided across all levels of the population Young people will require a special approach, as they have to be engaged in a different manner to adults it is important and useful to raise young peoples awareness towards possible dangers in everyday life In doing so, they will learn very fast how to protect themselves against potential threats Most accidents can be avoided by prevention through effective education and training 04.04.2025 | Titel der Pr sentation | Abteilung | Seite 2

Outcome - Expected results Strengthen the self-help competencies of young people by offering training to the educational system of the partner countries Achieve widespread publicity to the target audience during the project duration Ensure a education and training system within the partner countries by conducting Train-of-Trainers-Workshop; trained participants will conduct the ToTs as master-trainers in the partner countries Offer computer games, working sheets, methodological-didactical comments and story books in different languages Offer recommendations for emergency and disaster response staff to promote the needs of young people in case of emergencies Ensure the European Union added value in disaster preparedness by disseminating the developed material in English language to other Member States | Seite 7
Final beneficiaries 1. Young people and their surroundings (families, teachers, friends,neighbours ) 2. GOs, NGOs, schools, relief organizations by receiving appropriate teaching material 3.
