Badger Consulting Inc Why engaging youth in self and systems advocacy is so important Discuss and showcase two programs that support youth engagement in transition, advocacy, and systems change.   4. Introducing J. Badger Consulting Who We are: Disability-owned and operated consulting firm dedicated to creating community and systems change for people with disabilities. What we do: Advocacy: Leading training programs and coalitions Campaign Management: Spearheading state bills and initiatives. Governmental Affairs: Ensuring impactful advocacy at state and federal levels. Policy Development: Crafting standout legislative bills. Individual Trainings: Customized sessions on disability related topics Material Creation: Producing tailored resources with expert input.

How Young Adults Can Become Effective Advocates Know how to explain their disability, how it impacts them in a given environment, and what supports would help them be successful Know who to go to for support Have an understanding of the system works. Make connections with people can help make needed changes when necessary. Learn how to harness the power of their story to grow personally and create change. Connect with the disability community Find opportunities to practice advocacy

Youth Engagement Now A collaboration between the RAISE Center and the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition the Collaborative (NTACT:C) Anchored in Hart s Ladder of Youth Participation Youth Led, youth driven initiative focused on creating: Practical youth engagement tools and resources to support parent centers and transition focused state teams engage young adults in their work. The goals is to help organizations go from, we want to do youth engagement, to we CAN do youth engagement

  10. Statewide Advocates Influencing Leadership SAIL is a community-driven organization focused on fostering leadership and advocacy among people with disabilities across Pennsylvania. Our group is designed by and for individuals with disabilities, ensuring that the support we provide is both relevant and impactful.

  11. Mission and Values SAIL provides training and support for and by Pennsylvanians with disabilities to become strong agents for change. Empowerment: Giving disabled people the confidence, skills, and support they need to take control of their own lives. Support: Providing needed help and resources. Advocacy: Encouraging people to help make change Inclusion: Making sure disabled people can share their views
