  2. Why Choose English at A Level? It s great if you enjoy reading lots of novels and plays and I love the range of texts and eras you study. I ve got really good at understanding poetry and it s given me confidence to write some of my own poems. You get to discuss your reading and share ideas with other interested students. We studied a variety of texts and I loved Othello . You develop your analytical skills through wider reading, discussion and writing and this is what makes literature so interesting. You begin to make links with history, society, politics, philosophy, religion, morality and science. Learning about the context of the books is really important but also very interesting. If you want to read English at University. I believe English Literature will be of benefit to you in any future career path.

Aim to excel from the outset; success in Year 12 will: Enhance UCAS applications/references Ease the burden of revision in Year 13

That You: Arrive with at least two grade 7s in English Read, research, make notes for each lesson Meet regular essay deadlines Develop wider reading (you will receive a current reading list appropriate to the course) Gain a minimum Grade C at the end of Year 12 to proceed to Year 13
