Jisc Digital Insights Survey Specifically concerned with collating data on the RCS digital experience Will provide data on how staff use technology, how it affects their professional practice and how the institution could more appropriately target resources Survey ran May-July 2019 116 responses (67 teaching staff, 49 professional services staff)

  4. What one thing should our organisation do - or do better - to support your digital teaching practice? CPD sessions- regularly and not once a year communicate with practical teaching staff as much as academic to broaden use and understanding Tell me what is expected of me. D on t know w hat digital teaching practice is. Free up teaching/workload so we could actually get some training Better hardware in teaching rooms. Lose the smart boards and replace with touchscreen tvs. computers are creative tools that are a fundamental requirement in the successful delivery of our teaching. Purchasing of hardware and software must be driven by the needs of individual departments and not dictated by IT staff or budget or Estates. need to think about how we support staff in understanding the value of tech, .it can't be tech for tech's sake, it doesn't always enhance learning. It isn't a miracle cure for all issues.

  5. .digital teaching is broadly seen as something additional to the education experience . existing workloads make it difficult for many staff to justify allocating time to exploring new solutions .we need a more strategic approach to the development of our learning technology use, including: investment in the hardware .. dedicated physical space clear strategic aims in relation to our digital provision . senior management advocacy of technology enhanced learning . active celebration of innovative practice in technology-enhanced learning.
