ATTENDANCE & ENROLLMENT TEA plans to collect attendance data two ways in the 2024-2025 school year: 1. Granular negative attendance by student which will eliminate the requirement for SIS vendors to calculate attendance by six-weeks. Attendance 2. Cumulative attendance by six-weeks by student. (no change from the way attendance is currently collected) Note: TEA will eventually discontinue collecting cumulative attendance in a future school year after confirming attendance calculations. Enrollment and withdrawal data will be collected at the student level in the IODS. Enrollment This data will be sent to the Unique ID (UID) Enrollment Tracking application so LEAs will no longer have to load this data in the UID system.
ENROLLMENT TRACKING TIMELINE Enrollment and withdrawal data is already being loaded to the IODS through the StudentSchoolAssociation. Starting early in the 2025-2026 school year, TEA will request volunteer LEAs to test the new functionality that loads enrollment and withdrawal data through an API from the IODS to the UID Enrollment Tracking database. Testing will be conducted in a non-production environment. In the 2026-2027school year, all LEAs will use this functionality.
GRANULAR ATTENDANCE TIMELINE Many LEAs are already loading absences by date in the IODS. TEA TSDS team has been working on the requirements for the promotions and the calculations. Starting early in the 2025-2026 school year, TEA will request volunteer LEAs to promote granular attendance data and verify the calculations for parallel testing purposes. Testing will be conducted in the production environment and will be in a phased approach, starting with Basic/Regular Flex attendance and then Special Programs attendance. In the 2026-2027 school year, all LEAs will be asked to promote granular attendance data for parallel testing purposes. This testing will continue until all stakeholders agree that attendance data is being reported and calculated correctly.
