  5. DIAGRAM Report 2017: Examination of Emerging Technologies Impact on Education Topic 1: Accessible Coding in Education Challenges: Complicated dev environments, lots of block-level coding languages use drag and drop Takeaways: Computer science teachers need to incorporate accessible workflows, people with disabilities need to be consulted during the development of software environments

  6. DIAGRAM Report 2017: Examination of Emerging Technologies Impact on Education Topic 2: Machine Learning Challenges: Need reliable data sets to train machines, virtual assistants not always accessible Takeaways: Will be a game changer in education, can help with predicting disabilities and adapting learning environments, automated image descriptions, make sure does not lead to isolating or singling out some students

  7. DIAGRAM Report 2017: Examination of Emerging Technologies Impact on Education Topic 3: Multimedia Interactives Challenges: Both input and output need to be accessible, both content and device need to be accessible Takeaways: Multimedia helps students engage through multiple senses, providing more than one type of experience is key.

  8. DIAGRAM Report 2017: Examination of Emerging Technologies Impact on Education Topic 4: Personalized Learning Challenges: Need reliable ways to control type and display of content, current lack of availability of different content types Takeaways: Goes hand in hand with having a skilled educator and thoughtful course design, communication key to ensure student get content that is best suited for their needs.
