Project SEARCH International https://www.projectsearch.us/ Core model fidelity The sole definition of a successful outcome is competitive employment for each Project SEARCH intern: Employment in an integrated setting (that is, working alongside co-workers with and without disabilities). Year-round work (not seasonal employment) 16 hours/week or more Paid the prevailing wage
Exploring the policies, systems and processes Exploring the policies, systems and processes What were the BARRIERS???? What were the ENABLERS??? What changes had to happen to make it work ??? What still needs to happen so that there are better systems in the future?
What still needs to happen???? What still needs to happen???? Sustainable funding! but certainly around the funding, we shouldn t have to be running around, scraping around for funds to work out how we can run it This has been successful and would continue to be successful but that s the piece of the puzzle we haven t nailed, the funding model

Our Contacts Project SEARCH Across Aotearoa Employer-led Internships for Students with Disabilities Project SEARCH is a one-year training to employment internship programme, currently for ORS funded students in their last year of school. It could also be suitable for some non-ORS funded students who mostly reside in secondary school learning support classes (with the right braided funding model). The internship programme is in its second year at the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB), Burwood Hospital in Christchurch with a cohort of 8 young people. Project SEARCH is an exciting New Zealand first initiative founded on the well-proven, evidence-based international internship model Project SEARCH originating from the United States (www.projectsearch.us). The employer-led, employment focused programme promotes active collaboration among a group of local partner organisations who come together around the young person and their family to develop and implement a New Zealand context programme. There is representation of all partners on a steering committee who support the programme vision with an operational onsite team, job development and business advisory group. WE ARE CURRENTLY WANTING TO CAPTURE THE INTEREST OF PEOPLE AND ORGANISATIONS ACROSS NEW ZEALAND WITH THE INTENTION OF SUPPORTING THE SETTING UP OF OTHER PROGRAMMES. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAMME IN CANTERBURY AND JOINING A NATIONAL COALITION OF INTERESTED PARTNERS PLEASE FILL IN THE DETAILS BELOW AND WE WILL SEND YOU MORE FOCUSED INFORMATION. THANKYOU, COLIN DR. COLIN GLADSTONE (PhD)
