  1. WEEKLY PLAN Day 1: Intonation and SPAG Ideas (to be spread out over the weeks): Read the text aloud with expression and meaning. Teacher models; chn repeat. Teacher times how long it should take to read aloud a paragraph; chn practise and try to read it aloud (with the same intonation) in the same time frame. Chn highlight capital letters and full stops (in whole text or just a paragraph) to recognise sentences. Chn highlight simple or compound or complex sentences. Chn highlight questions in the text with question marks at the end. Chn highlight the commas and try to identify what they are used for. Chn highlight the apostrophes and identify whether for omission or possession. Chn highlight whatever is your current SPAG focus of the week, e.g. expanded noun phrases or simple past tense verbs. Chn highlight their whole year-group target (see top of target cards). Day 2: Vocabulary: Tier 2 and 3 words. Ideas: Chn highlight words they do not know, then look up in dictionary. Chn share the meanings of these words with partner/class. Chn use each word accurately in a sentence and tell their partner.

  11. 08/05/2025 Friday - Questions Silent reading. Discuss the questions and be ready to answer with the class. 1. What does the word colourful mean? 2. What does it mean by even the sun, whop usually acted so cruelly to anyone ? 3. Why do you think the author has chosen to end the text in this way? Talk Partner
