What is remote learning? What is remote learning? Remote learning occurs when the learner and educator, or source of information, are separated by time and distance and therefore cannot meet in a traditional classroom setting. Information is typically transmitted via technology (email, discussion boards, video conference etc ) so that no physical presence in the classroom is required; otherwise, it would be Hybrid or Blended Learning. Remote learning is often referred to as Distance Education, Virtual Instruction, or Remote Training.
Further definitions Further definitions Blended learning combines in-classroom instruction with asynchronous exercises and content that is consumed outside the classroom. Hybrid learning on the other hand, is the method of teaching remote and in-person students at the same time via virtual instruction solutions. Remote learning can include access to physical materials and instructions sent out to participants. This method has been used by museums, galleries and heritage sites during lockdown. Museum remote learning examples include webinars, online activity packs, digital and print resources, printable worksheets, curator/educator talk videos, online tours, Facebook live presentations, and interactive video calls.
