The Community Vaccine Champion Project in Camden aims to address vaccine uptake disparities by focusing on key target groups such as Caribbean & Black African communities, adults in deprived areas, and those in insecure employment. The project involves engagement, communications, champion recruitment, and partnership development with VCS organizations. 7. What groups do we need to focus on? 1st and 2nd vaccine uptake levels rose during December, but a considerable number of people aged 20- 39 are currently unvaccinated reaching people aged 20-40/45 will be a focus of this work. The bid identified three key target groups for concerted support:- People from Caribbean & Black African communities Adults living in the most deprived areas Adults in insecure employment or un/under documented immigration status While uptake of the first vaccine has been lowest in the Southern wards of Camden and in Kilburn (data up to 08 Jan), there are important numbers of residents as yet unvaccinated across all wards. So, a borough wide approach will be needed, alongside a targeted approach supporting small areas and very local communities drawing on local reliable intel. Vaccines are still the best way to protect people from COVID-19 and have already saved thousands of lives.
