Background (1) Two-pronged Programme Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools OGCIO launched the eight-year Enriched IT Programme (EITP) In 2015/16 school year Enriched IT Activities Programme Enriched IT Class Programme 3
Background (2) Enriched IT Activities Programme To stimulate students interest in IT through organising IT activities by participating secondary schools Upon successful application, each secondary school is eligible for a funding support up to $50,000 2015/16 EITA 85 secondary schools and around 9 500 students participated Examples of IT Activities: Aerial photography, 3D modeling, robotics control and mobile application programming, etc. 4
2017/18 EITA Theme-based Approach Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in Education Aim to stimulate greater interest of students in acquiring a better understanding of these emerging IT skills and their applications in education and other areas Remarks Other projects/activities will continue to be considered albeit at a lower priority. 5
Project Scope Each participating school should nominate at least 20 students to take part in the implementation of its proposed project Participating schools should achieve the following: (a) To acquire and set up the necessary equipment (b)To design and lead students to implement an IT project on the development of VR/AR-based e-learning materials (c) To plan, manage and monitor the implementation of the proposed IT project (d)To establish pedagogical use of the developed VR/AR-based e- learning materials (e) To share with other schools the experience and all project deliverables (f) To participate in promotion and publicity activities to be organised by the OGCIO 6
Requirements (1) Project Design and Approach Under the selected theme, participating schools can develop e- learning materials with VR/AR effects to aid any academic subject and/or teaching activity Examples: a) Identifying safety hazards in a virtual laboratory for learning of Chemistry b) Experiencing virtual field trips on special landscapes of Hong Kong for learning of Geography Training courses, industrial visits or workshops can be included in the proposed project to gear up the basic technical skills of students in VR/AR 7
Requirements (2) Project Schedule and Deliverables Each proposed project should be completed before end of December 2018 Deliverables should include (but not limited to) the following : a) VR/AR-based e-learning materials in photos, videos and/or maps or other forms b) Application program and corresponding source codes supporting the use of the VR/AR-based e-learning materials c) Project documents including project description, instruction guide, online manual, VR/AR teaching materials, etc. All the project deliverables shall be shared with other schools via the Enriched IT Programme Portal (http://www.eitp.gov.hk/) upon request 8
Funding Support Maximum: HK$50,000 Funding can be deployed in the following areas: a) Hiring of professional services, such as from tertiary institutions, industry corporations, and teaching service providers b) Procurement and preparation of project materials c) Procurement and/or rental of equipment and tools, and consumables for the implementation of projects d) Travelling expenses for industrial visits e) Rental of venue f) Promotion to other schools Note: The funding should not be used in other areas unless approval is sought from the OGCIO 9
Selection Criteria Mandatory requirements: a) School Supervisor of the applicant school has vetted the information provided in the completed application form and committed to undertake the full responsibilities as stipulated in the Call for Applications for the 2017/18 Enriched IT Activities Programme b) The applicant school is a valid government, aided, caput and local schools under the Direct Subsidy Scheme secondary school registered under EDB with an EDB assigned school code c) The net amount to be sought from the OGCIO is less than or equal to HK$50,000 d) The proposed IT project will be completed before end of 2018 e) At least 20 students will participate in the proposed IT project 10
Submission of Applications (1) Download and complete the application form from the Enriched IT Programme Portal : https://www.eitp.gov.hk/en/call-applications-organising-2017- enriched-it-activities-programme Completed application form in its hardcopy together with its softcopy in a CD/DVD/USB thumb drive shall be put in a sealed envelope The cover should mark with words RESTRICTED - Application for the 2017/18 Enriched IT Activities Programme 11
