ET INTERNSHIPS PREPARATION
ET SECTOR SCENARIO Companies visited last year: NVIDIA hardware, NVIDIA software, Texas Instruments, Micron, Google Hardware, CISCO, Luminous Power Technologies Two Domains: Digital And Analog Mostly the CG cut-offs were 7
GENERAL SELECTION PROCEDURE Most companies have an Online Test as first shortlisting round. This is followed by a Technical interview for shortlisted student and then a HR interview. The Online Test usually consists of the following sections: 1. Digital 2. Analog 3. Aptitude 4. Verilog and/or C Programming
IMPORTANT TOPICS OF ANALOG DOMAIN: 1. Electrical Sciences: Thevenin, Norton, Superposition Theorems RC Circuits: Both Time and Frequency Response Basics of 2nd order RLC circuits (Underdamped/Overdamped/etc.) 2. Microelectronic Circuits: Characteristics of MOSFETs and BJTs Basic Amplifier stages: CSA, CGA, CDA, Cascode Frequency Response: Pole/Zero Location Feedback - Identification of Feedback, it s effect on different parameters
IMPORTANT TOPICS OF ANALOG DOMAIN: 3. Analog Electronics: Concept of Negative Feedback, Virtual Ground Concept Basic OpAmp configurations: Upto Integrator/Differentiator Circuit 4. Miscellaneous: ConSys: Bode Plots, Nyquist Plots, 2nd Order Systems SaS: Types of Systems, Properties of LTI Systems
SOURCES OF PREPARATION: A. Electrical Sciences: 1. Textbook by Bobrow/Sadiku 2. Simulations on LTSpice 3. YouTube Videos by ChembiyanT B. Microelectronic Circuits: RazaviVideo Lectures/Textbook, Class Notes C. Analog Electronics: 1. Sedra Smith/L.K. Maheshwari 2. YouTube Videos by All About Electronics D. Lecture Notes for Control Systems and Signals and Systems
IMPORTANT TOPICS FOR DIGITAL DOMAIN: 1. Digital Design: Latches and F/Fs FSM, Mealy/Moore machines and implementations 2. Microprocessors and Interfacing: Fetch-Decode-Execute Cycle Pipelining ASM - Need to be conceptually sound, not needed to know every command Interfacing / Computer Organization
IMPORTANT TOPICS FOR DIGITAL DOMAIN: Analog and Digital VLSI Design Static Timing Analysis Delay Calculation Logic Families 4. Verilog Delay Calculation Behavioural, Dataflow and Gate level implementations Synchronous and combinational circuits, FSM Testbenches
SOURCES OF PREPARATION 1. Digital Design :Textbook 2. MuP a. Previous year recorded lectures b. Class notes 3. ADVD a. Jan M. Rabaey/RazaviTextbook. b. NPTEL video for Static Timing Analysis c. vlsi-expert.com for STA 4. Verilog a. asic-world.com b. tutorialspoint.com c. Practice
