Language Sections in the Nursery and Primary Cycle ( 45 classes) Class assignments and final information will be made available during the summer holidays Brochure First day of school for all children except P1 is Tuesday 3rdof September (short day) P1 Welcome ceremony is on 4thof September. Priorities When Grouping Parallel Classes Priority 1: Similar numbers in parallel classes Priority 2: Balanced numbers girls, boys and new students Priority 3: MTT L1 aspect Priority 4: Pedagogical aspect (it can be useful/necessary to separate children in P1) Class size regulations Max of 30 children per class (mixed age group M1/M2) 1 Assistant in all Nursery classes

Curriculum for L1-MTT Every language has its own. Same in all the European schools. Common goals: Language development Strengthening own cultural identity; national celebrations, library, visitors etc. Respecting other cultures Lessons Nursery P2 Mon-Fri 30 mins P3- P5 Mon-Fri 45 mins
How to support your child? Use your own mother tongue as much as possible. Reading aloud games Audio books Keep in touch with family and friends back home. Early Education curriculum website
Sport/Religion/Homework Sports for Nursery P1 and P2 2 X 60 mins weekly 1x 90 min P3/4/5 The children should wear sports clothes (shorts, T- shirt and indoor sport shoes and track-suits for outdoor sports) Religion: Offered in L1 if possible Minimum size of group: 7 pupils (horizontal/vertical grouping is possible) Alternatively offered in L2 Homework: Practice, Responsibility, Independence 14

Responsibilities of Parents Absences due to illness mail to class teacher, doctor s note from 3rd day onwards Mandatory regular school attendance for all N/P pupils Absences on personal grounds WRITTEN REQUEST at least 1 week in advance to the deputy head: 2 days + resonable time for travelling Permission may not be granted for the week preceding or the week following school holiday periods or public holidays.
